Fazzini’s lunacy continues

by:  Diane Benjamin

A citizens contacted the City Council pertaining to items on the agenda for last night’s meeting.  The agenda must be posted by law 48 hours before a meeting.  The law was to make citizens aware of what’s on the agenda and make comments to their representatives if desired.  Since Fazzini thinks he’s far above the average citizen, he doesn’t like it.  Here is his response:

It is my opinion that the City Manager and the elected officials who took the time and spent the money to get elected should be given the power to decide what should be on the regular city council agenda.  If every citizen were to have the right to determine the council agenda, that would not be Democracy where elected representatives make decisions.  Just one alderman’s opinion of how Democracy should work.  Rob

Why is Bloomington doing “Bring It On” Rob?  If citizens are immaterial, why survey them?  What item have you been allowed to place on the agenda Rob?  We all know aldermen don’t place items on the agenda, Mayor Renner even does everything possible to limits discussion.  How many times have you been told “you have 2 minutes”?  Why do some elected officials refuse to call our government what it really is:  A Representative Republic?  We have never been a democracy and never will be.

This is the citizen’s response to the Council:

Alderman Fazzini, is not 48 hours notice required by law to provide alderman and citizens the opportunity to review and then comment? The new public comments ordinance requires written comments to be submitted 24 hours in advance. So if the addendums or other materials are not available, **how can you review it and make a sound and honest judgment?

If a document is not ready, how can you adequately review it let alone me or others on the council? If it not ready, the item can be tabled until the next meeting. We are not performing emergency surgeries such as kidney or lung transplants.  Any individual alderman should be able to add or remove an item if the justification exists. It should not take a majority vote to do so. Sometimes, a majority can act in a tyrannical matter. I do not think anyone reading would want such a state as what recently happened in Ferguson,Mo.

Jim Fruin is my alderman. Sometimes we agree, sometimes not. This is a representative republic, not a true democracy. The basis of this guarantee is in the state and US constitution. The item you all swore an oath to uphold and defend and that others have died to defend. As Alton Franklin would say, for the people, by the people, of the people. I just ask Alderman Fazzini to feel honored and blessed to serve as an alderman.

So Jim , please table the item until you have time to make a sound and honest judgement

  1. Dear Rob:

Jeff Smith who speaks for quite of few of us in this town was not questioning items being placed on the agenda. You obviously are not smart enough to understand what he’s talking about. The issue at hand is the timing of those items being placed on the agenda. The Law, Rob, (yes the Law!) requires items be given adequate notice to the public, something that you obviously see yourself as being above.
I for one am sick and tired of your countless references to how much money and time you’ve spent to get yourself elected to the City Council. Seems there’s not a single piece of email from you that doesn’t reference it. Congratulations, Rob. It’s been a platform for you to show the community just how ignorant you really are. Now get over yourself! Your love affair with yourself has seriously hindered your service to our community.

Ps: Thanks for not running for reelection.

    Sincerely,
    A Bloomington Resident
