From Illinois Review:

The Black Robed Regiment was the name the British placed on the American clergy during the Founding Era (a backhanded reference to the black robes they wore). The British blamed the Black Robed Regiment for American Independence, and American leaders agreed.

John Adams wrote that “the pulpits have thundered” and specifically identified several ministers as being among the “characters the most conspicuous, the most ardent, and influential” in the “awakening and a revival of American principles and feelings” that led to American independence.

  1. This amazing presentation brought tears to my eyes to learn about the courage & the sacrifices that many people, including pastors, who were willing to lead & fight for the freedoms of every American. The freedoms that so many of us are taking for granted today. The inspiring message stirred encouragement and hope to want to continue to fight against the many battles that we are struggling with today in this country and served as a wake up call not only for pastors and clergy, but for everyone that America needs to wake up, stand up, and speak out against all the evil that prevails before it is too late!

    1. It was an amazing night. Bloomington has a good crowd, but many more people should have gotten off their butts and learned what is no longer being taught.
