Pantagraph: Public decides how money is spent? Really?

By:  Diane Benjamin

It’s been awhile since the Cheers and Jeers editorial said something really stupid, but today they struck left-wing gold.

Of course the editorial doesn’t say who wrote it, I wouldn’t want my name on it either.

It “CHEERS” the Bloomington City Council for deciding how to spend the non-existent $750,000 grant from Bill Brady.  Are they trying to guilt Brady into forking over the money?

Here’s the last line:

A little reminder: it’s taxpayer money. That means the public — not politicians — should decide how it is spent.

So, according to the Pantagraph, citizens should be heading down to Springfield and doling out the $30 some billion dollars in the State budget to who we want.  No need for those pesky elected representatives or a governor.

No doubt we would do a better job, but sorry Pantagraph – that’s not how it works!  Please don’t call Renner and the City Council the “public”!  How dare you call them names, I’m sure you insulted they lofty grandiose vision of themselves.
