Crony potted plants

I wrote yesterday about the Council voting to hand their power over to David Hales:  http://blnnews.com/2015/01/26/bloomington-city-council-becomes-congress/

Dining at taxpayer expense with Renner and Hales makes it easy to be immaterial.  (http://blnnews.com/2015/01/22/remember-the-post-make-sure-you-are-calm/)  SEVEN people aren’t on the Council to represent their Wards.  They think the job is to rubber stamp whatever is brought to them.

The vote concerned the threshold for spending that must be approved by the Council.  Hales and Renner wanted it raised to $50,000, anything less can be spent without citizens ever knowing about it.  Alderwoman Stearns made a motion to lower the $50,000 amount to $30,000.  Alderman Lower seconded the motion.  He wanted the Council to provide oversight for spending.  Below is the vote on the Stearns motion:

Accountability is immaterial when you can eat with Renner and Hales.

City elections are in April.  Sage is running unopposed, so you are stuck with him for another 4 years.  Painter, Schmidt, and Hauman can be replaced.

Help make that happen:  netpac.me.
