Did Tari Lie?

By:  Diane Benjamin

When Alderman Kevin Lower announced his Townhall meeting, he didn’t set an agenda.  He merely listed items that could be discussed based on what citizens were telling him.  Tari’s email to supporter(s) makes it clear that spending is his highest priority, regardless of the consequences.  Tari is Markowitz part 2 – opinions of citizens are immaterial.

See the announcement I printed here:  http://blnnews.com/2015/06/24/alderman-lower-wants-your-opinions/

To: Redacted

Hello everyone,
I would hope that you would all consider attending the forum on July 7th at 7pm at the Lafayette Club.
This is a forum sponsored by Ald. Kevin Lower to discuss city issues.
He advertised it as discussing the city’s “Budget Tax Force” rather than “Budget
Task Force.”
It is important that voices for progress and improvement are heard at this forum – and not just the voices
of NO and WE CAN’T.
I am out of the country so I’m asking for your help in my absence.
Good people must have their voices heard so that the extreme views
of a vocal and nasty minority do not prevail.
Thank you!
Take care!
Tari Renner

  1. You know, it’s a good thing that the vocal minority with extreme views who we now call our Founding Fathers was not silenced. We forget that their views were in the minority of an elite that didn’t care about anything besides keeping their power. They were also committing treason by revolting.

The Wall Street Journal just had an opinion piece about how making progress is just the political class’s way of getting more power.

  2. Alderman Lower’s “civic” FB page posting announcing the event says nothing about taxes. The Mayor must have seen red and misread the announcement or he made a Freudian slip. Sending out this email is completely immature. An adult would have spoken privately to clarify any misunderstanding. Take note that the announcement about the July 7th meeting is not posted on the City website.

  3. I am not seeing where Alderman Lower referred to the Budget Task Force as the “Budget tax force” as Renner alleges in his email. Is this what you mean by did Tari lie? Although, I really like the title “budget tax force” because that’s exactly what it is.

    1. He made it sound like Kevin had an agenda to thwart Renner’s. Kevin is just getting citizens together to hear their view since they aren’t allowed to at Council anymore.

      1. Alderman Lower was the only one to challenged the change to the Public Comment ordinance which put the Mayor in an unprofessional tizzy. Those that voted with Mr. Lower had also received significant negative feed back about the change. So, where is the minority?

  4. Men rise from one ambition to another: first, they seek to secure themselves against attack, and then they attack others.

  5. Watch for his next trick – Professor Mayor Alinsky Rules will attempt to lock out Kevin Lower from council meetings.

    1. Mr. Lower is not yet locked out of council meetings but is not included in the private gatherings with Mr. Hales over lunch.

  6. GREAT clip Donna! As for the Democrats worrying, well, I AM one, also a GOP OR a GDI, whichever has the BEST person for the job. I vote for WHO I think is gonna get the JOB DONE with the best results and the least amount of “friction” I can tell ya TARI is no more a democrat than ANYONE of us could nail applesauce to a TREE!

    1. Kudos to Mr. Lower for reaching out to the citizens. I don’t like labels…just honesty.
