Is the heat being turned up on CITYWATCH? Has the search of truth become so infringed that it has become a threat to those that hide it?  And has the right of the citizens to know that truth become threatened when groups like CITYWATCH become the “watched”?

The answer to all three of those question is yes.

Recently it has been discovered that the CITYWATCH group, and this blog, has been the focus of some interesting activity occurring behind the scenes, so to speak.

Beginning last week, at least, our tech support segment noticed highly unusual activity with blog visits and searches. Seems there are several entities that have found such interest in our data that our blog’s pages are being scanned continuously, some locally and some not so local. Why and for what? Who knows? And, while we have our suspicions as to the motive and cause, for legal purposes we defer comment.

But, suffice it to say that apparently, our search here at CITYWATCH and our successful exposure of the truth has newfound concern with some who are obviously interested with what that truth exposes. Interestingly, though, that interest has demanded that a “behind the scenes” review is necessary rather than just simply reading the blog’s information, like most do.

That behind the scenes activity, in and of itself, more than whispers of impropriety and fear of exposure by someone.

On the positive side, I would like to believe that the review of those entities is one that would reveal the true mission of CITYWATCH: To protect and preserve the people, property, and prosperity of Bloomington, Normal, and McLean County.

And, that through the exercise of that mission, the truth, for the best interest for the whole of our community, is exposed and our mission accomplished.

Can we expect issues and instances where our search for that truth, and to accomplish our mission is impeded? Where our persons and our personal liberty and safety is at risk? I would hope not. I would like to have more confidence in our community organizations, institutions, and officials  than to believe our best interests, our safety, and our well-being and welfare are in jeopardy simply because we search for truth.

But the fact of the matter is there – we continue to pursue those things that we all believe make our community the best there is for all of our interests.

But, the fact of the matter is there that we are being watched.

We can only hope that our effort is able to continue and the community that we strive to speak out for, to preserve and protect, will also speak out for CITYWATCH, continue to support us, and stand behind us as we do you in our defense of truth.

After all, if not us, then who?
