Teacher Pensions vrs Social Security

Click on the links below to see the current pensions being paid to retirees of District 87 and Unit 5.

In 2009 the average HOUSEHOLD income in McLean County was $56,027  http://www.city-data.com/county/McLean_County-IL.html

The average Social Check in 2012 is $1,230 or $14,760 a year  http://ssa-custhelp.ssa.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/13/~/average-monthly-social-security-benefit-for-a-retired-worker

The pension system at ALL levels of government was set up to BUY votes.  Reforms can either be made or the pension system can go bankrupt.  A 67% income tax increase in 2010 – that was used totally for pensions – was not enough to fund the plans.

How does your retirement compare?

Gov Quinn has called a special session to vote on pension reform.  Make sure our legislators are informed and know how you feel.  If pensions are pushed on to the local districts, your real estate taxes will have to increase to pay for them.  What if they have a referendum and it fails?

It is time for government employee benefits to more closely align with the private sector.  Currently we are slaves to government – they take more and more and more.  They aren’t done yet.  We can either fix the problems or leave Illinois.  It’s time to choose!
