Common Core: 3 * 4 = 11 is okay if they can explain why

During a Common Core Math presentation at Grayslake District 46 last night, the following was stated:

But even under the new common core if even if they said 3 * 4 was 11, if they were able to explain their reasoning and explain how they came up with there answer. Really in words and aural explanation and they showed it in a picture but they just got the final answer wrong. We’re more focused on the how and the why.

A longer report and more video coming later. This was just the first clip of what was an absolute show of failure by public schools in math education.

    This nightmare is coming to our schools. Are you okay with your kids going through life with the wrong answers to every problem they face? How are they getting smarter if we’re patting them on the back for their errors? Time to stand up against Common Core!
