There is a little more to this story however. A tipster sent me this document: HCC wind turbine DOE decision selected Vestas V82
Everybody loves a sale, but how about buying a discontinued model. The document doesn’t say anything about a discount, just a lot of grant money (taxpayer dollars). The blades were made in Colorado. The rest of it is from Spain. The model Heartland bought was the last of its kind.
This is my favorite part – they got a waiver from “Buy American”:
Looks like a “shovel-ready” job has finally been located!
Maybe buying a discontinued model has something to do with finding parts. 2 months out of commission is going to make the pay-back period a little longer.

This is too funny. It’s not funny when the taxpayer gets the shaft but it’s so ironic that the educators themselves are getting an education. However by the end of the day, they still won’t understand. Must be that Common Core stuff prohibiting them from any critical thinking that otherwise could have prevented this stupidity.
