Mayor Renner proclaimed a new Art Gallery is now open – in his office! A citizens hung paintings on consignment on Public Property. His office has a complete list along with prices. Not only is it illegal for him to conduct business in his office, but other public employees are forced to participate in his absence. They have keys to his office and the price list.
From the Illinois Constitution:
Article VIII
SECTION 1. GENERAL PROVISIONS (a) Public funds, property or credit shall be used only for public purposes.
Violating the constitution, specifically that section on public funds is ALWAYS prosecuted as Official Misconduct. That is where the felony comes in.

A public officer or employee or special government agent convicted of violating any provision of this Section forfeits his office or employment or position as a special government agent. In addition, he commits a Class 3 felony. |
Where was City Manager David Hales? Where are the City Attorneys? Mayor Renner isn’t smart enough to know that business can not be conducted from City Hall?
Mayor Renner teaches political science and doesn’t know his actions are Official Misconduct?

Arrogance or idiocy ? Possibly an early victim of common core ?
It really must be a slow news week for you…
