Coliseum: Thanks Alderwoman Stearns

by:  Diane Benjamin

The City of Bloomington built the Coliseum and handed it to CIAM (Central Illinois Arena Management).  There has been little oversight of concessions and limited oversight of the building.  The yearly audit is ineffective at best.

At last night’s Council meeting, Alderwoman Stearns stood up for the citizens.  CIAM wants the contract changed, Stearns wants transparency.  Start watching the video at 1:40:20.  Alderwoman Stearns is responsible for the promised City of Bloomington review of CIAM.  How seriously the City will take the review?  It doesn’t sound like Alderwoman Stearns will let them spin.

By the June review, you will be sending thank you notes to Alderwoman Stearns.  Stay tuned, but don’t miss City Manager David Hales defending CIAM and the outside audit.  It may be important later.

  1. I was shocked watching the video. Supposed conservatives supporting borrowing $40,000,000 to pay off borrowed money. And supporting Tax increases that would hurt the poor like the Utility Tax to pay for wasteful spending to subsidize entertainment for the wealthy. Sounds like something Obama could support.
