Here’s your Mayor Bloomington

He forgot to mention a budget already did pass.  He’s not making tough choices – he is raising taxes.  The tough choice would be cutting spending – but then this is what Bloomington elected.

Subject: The Budget–we need YOUR help!

Hello Everyone –

We are down to the wire. The Bloomington City Council must approve next year’s budget TONIGHT. It’s easy to lose sight of what’s at stake amongst all the rhetoric and political grandstanding. I believe this budget can put Bloomington on the right track for generations to come. During the campaign, I committed to you that I would ensure we fund our pensions, rebuild our streets, keep the public safe, support our downtown, protect our quality of life, and continue to make Bloomington the leading city in Central Illinois.

The Budget that’s presented can make these promises a reality.

The chips are down and we’re at the bottom of the ninth. If the Council doesn’t pass this budget we’ll be digging into our savings to pay our bills. We’ll be kicking the can down the road on pensions and infrastructure. We’ll be turning our back on older neighborhoods.

But not on my watch. I didn’t run for Mayor to avoid the tough choices. I ran because I will step up to the plate. However, I can’t do it alone. I need your support.

Are you able to come to the City Council Meeting 7PM TONIGHT, Monday Evening at City Hall at? Showing your support in person will help ensure the Council gets the message that citizens demand smart choices from City Hall.

If you can’t make it tonight, would you take a moment to email the City Council your support for our proposed budget? They need to hear your feedback. They need hear your voice over all the noise and heated rhetoric.

You can email the whole Council at [email protected]. Send them your thoughts, but if you’d like feel free to tell them this:

Bloomington City Council,

Please make the smart decision on Monday evening. We want our community to be a vibrant place to live. We want to see our pensions funded so we don’t burden future generations. We want to see our streets repaired. We want to give our first responders everything they need to protect us. We want to protect our beautiful parks and quality of life.

Please step up to the plate for our City.

Thank you for your continued efforts.

Best,

Mayor Tari Renner
