More throwing YOUR money around

By:  Diane Benjamin

I’d love to know what this is, but last Monday I hear some Council members wanted the legislators to change the Freedom of Information Act Law so staff doesn’t have to answer them.  I hear Bill Brady told them to be more transparent if they didn’t want FOIA requests, that probably died at the hands of Renner – transparency is only for what HE wants to be transparent about.

BMI concessions is John Butler’s company at the Coliseum.  He also believes transparency is highly overrated and he therefore won’t let anybody see his reports.  Verifying the City is getting their fair share of concessions is impossible.  The Attorney General is investigating, maybe her office will rule in a year or two.  Meanwhile:  Employee Lunch for $5,664.00.  Hum, let’s play the guessing game again.  Why would it be charged as Employee Lunch and Admin Community Relations.  Too bad the City hates FOIA’s – we will just have a spread rumors instead of getting real answers.

  1. EMP LUNCH 4/10/15 $5,664.00–probably for the catered meal with the legislators since the meeting was on April 10th. I’m also amazed that the city pays the union dues for it’s workers.

      1. Oh, didn’t know that. I was just guessing since there is no explanation for the expense. The check was written to BMI CONCESSIONS, whoever that is.

  2. So we send our junior high students over to the Fukishima area so they can breathe the radioactive air and consume contaminated food and water? Dumb.

    1. Asahikawa is 600+ miles from Fukushima. That’s like saying you’d not want to leave central IL because you want to avoid Atlanta, GA. Maps, they’re widely available. Look at them, and you might learn something!

      1. Maybe you should take your own advice and look at a (weather) map and see how the air currents work, and hope you’ll learn from it. It’s kinda like that Erin Brockovich thing, do you want to drink the water? That was a really bad comparison you noted.

  3. Off subject,,,but was just looking at the article about the bicycle master plan in the Pantograph. The lead picture has the BloNo bike dude posing in a bike lane against the directional arrow. Lol. Typical bike rider, disobeying common laws,,,even when they get their own lanes, they still don’t follow the law. No wonder biking for some people isn’t safe. Some people are just stupid. Stupid BloNo dude for posing opposite the arrow. Stupid cameraman for taking that picture and submitting it. Stupid proof reader for missing it. Stupid editor for allowing it to be published. Stupid paper. Stupid mayor Renner for comparing retail sales in NYC to Bloomington! Yep, a lot of stupidity on display with that article.
