In Honor of Tari’s re-election bid:

By:  Diane Benjamin

The Total Budget Tari inherited in 2013:  $167 million

Tari’s first budget – 2014:  $169.4 million

2015 Budget:  $180.4 million

2016 Budget: $186.3 million

Proposed 2017 Budget:  206.9 million

(Evidently the stacked Council is going to pass it as is)

Spending increased $39.9 million in 4 years!

What did you get for $40 Million?  A few roads fixed and better pension funding.

Begin the celebration now.

Where did the money come from?

Citizens never had an Amusement tax until Tari created one – 4%.

Your Utility Taxes were raised.

Your Gas Tax was increased.

Your garbage fees were raised.

Your Sales tax was raised.

Sewer and Storm water fees are next

Don’t forget that taxes have been abated all over town and new TIF districts are being added.  That means everybody else has to pay more to make up the difference.

Local elections will no longer be non-partisan.

You need to know who robbed you:  Democrats.

(Pretend Republicans have robbed you too.  Get informed this time.)

  1. The most uninformed post yet.

    Democrats? In McLean County?

Man this proves how partisan and uninformed you are.

    Thanks for the laughs.

    1. I REALLY enjoy showing your clueless comments!

Renner announced after he won that he was the first Democrat Mayor of Bloomington ever. He was also one on the County Board.

Black was a Democratic on the County Board.

Buragas donated thousands of dollars to John Edwards – disgraced Democrat.

Painter attended a fundraiser for socialist Jan Schakowsky.

Hauman approves of anything Renner wants, ditto Schmidt.

There is only one person on the Board with any confirm-able ties to the Republican Party – Lower.

Feel stupid yet? I didn’t think so.

      1. Hauman was a democratic precinct committee chairman before joining the Council, along with Rob Fazzini’s wife Lynn. I think Human’s husband, David, has taken her place if I’m not mistaken.

  2. Let’s create an unfriendly business environment and raise taxes and fees. Let’s also raise taxes and fees to individuals who call this place home while continuing to overspend in many areas. Sounds like a sound plan to me that mimics our states financial policies. Great work team…keep up the awesome spending. I’ll make sure to double my efforts as a citizen so you all can toot your horns!

    1. Oh, but the Council and Mayor think that if tax dollars keep being thrown into economic development the City will prosper. Too bad they don’t understand that increasing the cost of living has the opposite affect. They keep talking about the economic impact of “City assets” but forget about the economic impact of tax increases. The City needs someone as Mayor and City Manager with basic understanding of economics.

  3. OH for the “GOOD OLD DAYS” when you could fit ALL the Democrats in town into the Lucca Grill and ole John Baldini HAD good pizza at a fair price!! WHAT has happened here???

  4. Come on, it’s only $505.69 for every person in Bloomington. They can all afford that, right? 🙂

    1. That is only the increase. The actual total amount is $2,773 per person of needed tax revenue for this year’s budget.
