More Bloomington (lack of) Transparency

The title:

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IMPROVEMENTS
CONTROL DEFICIENCIES

This report is from the City of Bloomington’s auditors.  Every other year I have reported on these “Control Deficiencies”, many are reported year after year after year with nothing being done to fix the problems.  (Hales needs a bigger raise)

Control Deficiencies mean anything from less than accurate accounting to possible undetected theft because conditions exist where it is possible.

All 11 pages are total redacted!

Obviously they are hiding information from the people footing their bills.

Very transparent Mayor.  Smile big when you get a transparency award.  The paper will print your picture and some people might believe you really are transparent.

This is proof that hiding bad news is standard procedure.

Another easy to win lawsuit, should I choose to file.  You can’t give me the information for years and then expect a judge to side with you about changing your mind on disclosing the information.

  1. The Audit Communication report states: “This information is intended solely for the use of the Mayor, City Council and management of the City of Bloomington, Illinois and is not intended to be and should not be used by anyone other than these specified parties.” Funny thing, though, it didn’t used to be redacted.

Below is the link to the City’s web page about Transparency. No judgement here, just information.
