Did your Tax Assessment go UP?

By:  Diane Benjamin

There is now no level of government that understands you work, your earn your paycheck, and they are NOT entitled to it!

Yes, government needs the smallest piece possible from you, but they have completely lost the purpose for their theft.  Government only exists to do things people can’t do themselves like roads and bridges.  The rest of their job is protect your freedom and liberty to live your life the way you want to live it.

They shouldn’t entertain you, educate your children, or provide retirement and lavish benefits for employees.

If you were notified of an Assessment Change that will radically increase the property taxes you pay, fight back.

Illinois is second to New Jersey with the highest property tax rate in the United states.

The County directions for filing an appeal can be found here:  http://www.mcleancountyil.gov/index.aspx?nid=107

Of course, they don’t make it easy.

  1. I bought in 2008 a Freddie Mac foreclosure. It took filing appeals for 3 years to get bloomington to use my purchase price as the assessed value. I also had to appeal their decision to Springfield. It is worth it. I am saving money every year. If you don’t think your house is worth what they say it is find some comps, and fight it.
