The 2016 fiscal year for Bloomington ended April 30, 2016. The only financial information issued so far is the treasurer’s report: http://www.cityblm.org/index.aspx?page=21&parent=36
Issuing financial reports normally takes a ridiculous 6 months. That would be October. It’s now the end of November and still nothing.
Did the City finance department screw up the accounting so bad that auditors were forced to reconstruct everything? Patti-Lynn?
We do know the Coliseum was a disaster since CIAM didn’t even issue quarterly statements for their third quarter. The statements they did issue for 2016 have been taken off the website altogether! http://www.cityblm.org/index.aspx?page=21&parent=6548
Since the financial statements for the Coliseum have always been presented separate from the City, Hales has no excuse for not issuing the City statements – unless he is hiding something. Maybe the Illinois state Police are investigating the City too! Since the City is refusing to issue the financial statements or even comment as to why they haven’t, let your imagination run wild!

Don’t forget – Bloomington also quit providing monthly financial information too. Hales won’t be winning any more awards for his City Manager’s reports.
(This almost sounds like Bloomington is part of a communist country! Taxpayers work for them instead of the other way around.)

Both. They are expected to work for the citizens, nobody but the citizens can hold them accountable.
I thought it was City policy to keep records on-line for 5 years. Oh, arbitrary policy changes can be made without Council approval for this but the Council can’t change IMRF policy!?!
As I’ve reported for years, the CIAM reports were fiction anyway. The audited statements always showed much bigger losses.
My comment was sarcastic in relation to the City’s ability to change policies at will. But, they won’t address IMRF spiking.

The mayor and city manager are suppressing unprecedented financial losses before and after CIAM, that would ordinarily cost both of them their jobs, using the cover of a police investigation, that is evidently going to last until after the mayoral election. Then they’ll likely claim the losses were due to criminal activity and accounting fraud, rather than terrible management and worse decisions by them. Renner and Hales made an incompetent decision to go into $750,000 debt with VenuWorks for new concession equipment, rather than cut them loose when he should have after the 3 month probationary period ended. Now it will be impossible to get rid of this joke of management company without paying back that debt in its entirety on top of the massive losses that are being hidden from taxpayers. This should trigger a recall election and firing of the city manager, both based in incompetence and city mismanagement. Which non-city council candidate will call the bluff of the council at a public meeting, and demand disclosure and an explanation of what is going on, in front of the media? Answer- the next mayor of Bloomington, whoever that is.
