ISP Proving Integrity: Renner

By:  Diane Benjamin

I filed a FOIA request with the Illinois State Police for the investigative documents pertaining to the Renner/Japan/PCard investigation in the purchase of Margot Erhlich’s ticket.  I just received a denial:

Dear Ms. Benjamin:
.
Thank you for writing the Illinois State Police with your request for  information pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS  140/1 et seq.
.
On September 25, 2017, we received your request for the following: Records related to Tari Renner.
.
The Illinois State Police Freedom of Information Officer, Erin Davis, is denying your request for the reasons outlined below:
.
5ILCS 140/7(1)(d)(i) ? The information requested would interfere with pending or actually and reasonably contemplated law enforcement proceeding conducted by law enforcement or correctional agency.
.
5 ILCS 14017(1)(d)(vii) ? The information requested would obstruct a current and ongoing criminal investigation.  The case or cases pertaining to your request is currently under review and Illinois State Police is expecting to be required to gather additional information regarding the case up to and until a verdict has been reached.  Therefore, the case or  cases pertaining to your request is considered an ongoing investigation.
.
Releasing the case at this time, would hamper agents abilities to  interview potential witnesses.  It also would jeopardize their ability to collect any further evidence.

  1. Perhaps the old adage is true, “give ’em enough rope and they’ll hang themselves,” fits Renner, Hales, and the entire council. Something to look forward to.

  2. Well at the very least we learned that the investigation is not over and is still on going. Even a answer of “No” does give some hint of information.

  3. I see this in a positive light, surely some of the investigators are disgusted enough with Tarry, simply because of the way he is, to keep dogging him. There should be no rest for the wicked, and Tarry (and company) are truly that. Running them until they collapse is often about all one can do because they have sooo many bowing and scraping little peons covering for them, and yes, enough rope is also a good strategy for the Tarry types.

    1. Question: Why can’t anybody spell TARI. I see Terry and Tarry! His mom must have been a hippie who created her own spelling. Sorry, it’s just been bugging me lately! I also hear his name pronounced Tar-ee on a local radio station. Kind of hurts their credibility!

      1. Tari’s relationship with Momma is interesting. His profile proudly proclaims he was born to a “Single Mother” who received Aid To Families with Dependent Children. Channeling Barak, I guess. Wonder if she was also a White Male hating nut job, like Ms. Soetoro.

      2. As long as we are worrying about spelling, why is Diane spelled with one ‘n’? Was your mom a hippie too? Not sure where throwing words around in pejorative terms is adding to the discussion. Just because Tari doesn’t behave, is not a green light to get dragged into the mud with him. You keep claiming the high ground but then you lose your objectivity, it only hurts you. Then you complain when The Pantagraph doesn’t credit you (which they ended up doing). Sheesh quit giving the Tari supporters ammunition.

      3. I do it on purpose, the Irish pronunciation of the Irish root name Tari is roughly Tar-ee or Tarry and so, I call him Tarry (which means hill) it’s also usually a girl’s name, maybe mama wanted a girl – Renner is interesting – could be from Scot Gaelic and mean divider or from Middle High German and mean runner – either fits – didn’t mean to annoy anyone with it – just trying to be proper and all.

  4. From the Renner Socialist Dictionary
    transparency |tranˈsparənsē|
    noun (pl. transparencies)
1 the condition of being transparent: the transparency of a clear plastic sheet.
    used in a sentence:
Deceive to achieve is transparent as long one can see through it.
