Normal: Revised Schedule + Spending

By:  Diane Benjamin

Normal Town Council tonight:  http://www.normal.org/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/2745

More proof the Chamber of Commerce is working AGAINST citizens:

This is the trip to explore building a sports complex here.  Even if it brings tourism dollars to hotels, restaurants, and retail, these are LOW WAGE jobs.  Guess who is going to pay for it!

One person can’t go and report back, it takes a village:

IML continues to provide fleecing direction:

If you missed this story telling what IML is – ready it now:  https://blnnews.com/2016/03/29/the-iml-scam/

Most Normal employees continue to NOT ride the bus for free:

(Normal made an agreement with Connect Transit to pay for their rides)

I wonder what this is and why it cost so much:

City Manager Spending:

Cultural Arts Totals:

(see the link above for details)

Quarterly?

Being in DEBT costs more than just Interest?

TIF subsidy:

I LOVE the way Normal frames rebating Sales Tax dollars:

Normal pays to track everything except what benefits they get by giving away tax dollars.

Budgets are created based on what they expect to receive.  When tax receipts aren’t meeting expectations, who pays?

The schedule for tonight is different than usual:

  1. apparently only in a council tax plan for a budget .. does one count their chickens before they’re hatched . just like weather affects the sale of umbrellas ,, it’s not too easy to forecast what may come way past a week ,, it may just dry up … it amazes me how folks attitude on spending can change when the tab is paid by others on the bills they create , but some are not very thrifty even with their own money and think we all have plenty to spare . . I may not be rich or too smart , but at least I respect the hard work it takes to pay taxes and live , and don’t like it when those in public service abuse that empting funds for their pleasures and then telling me to work harder to pay more to fill their wasted budget . .

    1. They fail to understand people have a limited amount of money. New stores create traffic, but they take it away from other stores. If tax revenue does increase from the new stores it may well come at the expense of Bloomington or other Normal businesses.

  2. WE NEED A LAW KIND OF LIKE THE RICO LAW THAT WOULD HOLD THOSE IN PUBLIC OFFICE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE DEBTS THEY INCUR DURING THEIR ADMINISTRATION, AND IF THINGS DON’T PAY OFF AS “THEY SAY” THEN THEIR ASSETS CAN BE SEIZED! Wether they are STILL in office or not. Markowitz would be a GREAT place to start!
