Tari needs to tell the truth

By:  Diane Benjamin

Tari has a problem with the truth.

Remember how he constantly claims the City has 100 fewer employees than it used to?  He uses that as an excuse for almost everything.

He left out a little detail I found in the almost year old financial statements the City just released.  See PDF page 193    http://www.cityblm.org/home/showdocument?id=15344

This page is the last 10 years history of City employees – 2008 to 2017.  These are the totals by year:

The City was forced to reduce the number of employees in 2009.  Obviously the number was headed back up in 2012.

But there’s a HUGE problem with these numbers – the ones Tari uses to justify his comments about having fewer employees.  See the * by 2013 and forward?

That’s because there is a FOOTNOTE to this table:

Total employees weren’t cut – they just changed how they count them!

Yes, the next time he says they have 100 fewer employees,  call him a liar because he is.  I love a comment frequently made by a reader:  Deceive to Achieve.

.

Different subject:

A reader sent me this picture.  Look close at the very bottom.  Two days of carriage rides were sponsored by the NAACP.  What does that mean?  They paid for all the rides?  Some of the rides?  The carriage had NAACP signs on it?  Were only NAACP members allowed to ride?

Anybody witness this event December 9th and 10th?

Why were no other days sponsored by anybody?

  1. The asterisks are by the Santa’s Station, not the carriage rides. Those are the two days when they have a black Santa and Mrs. Claus.

      1. Of course he does in the tradition of Hitler’s Minister of Propanda, George Goebbels, “If you tell a lie often enough it becomes truth.” I suppose with that comment local liberal heads will explode for connecting their leader with the Nazis. Ahhh, liberal heads exploding would surely be a happy holidays miracle! Just the thought of it puts a smile on my crotchety old face.

      2. It’s difficult for me to tell if he is smart enough to understand the concept of full-time vs. FTE. He just looks at the numbers.

  2. His acoounting and practices are very similar to how the State of Illinois does business and reports their head counts. Shift and mislead, shuck and jive smoke and mirrors… the tactics go by many names. One of the names is lying.

  3. Hey Diane,

This probably isn’t extremely helpful, but we did ride the carriage around uptown this past Sunday (12/17) and don’t remember seeing any signs on the carriage. I will review our family photos, but believe I would have seen ads if they were present that day.
