How many downtown properties aren’t paying taxes because Bloomington bought them?  Maybe Front & Center will be next!

  1. Unreal amounts of wasted money… money that was earned by the taxpayers and taken by the city. We are the makers and they are the takers. I am not oppose to paying taxes. But I am opposed to any government that spends taxpayer money like they are drunken sailors on shore leave. Collecting taxes on the poor and working class people throughout the city and then wasting it like there is no tomorrow? This is shameful and really wrong on so many levels.

  2. That land purchase on East Washington is located in the newly established TIF district which includes the old Bloomington High School.

    1. Another building for Tari to buy with our money and do nothing with? Likely plan: future home of mixed commercial (goat yoga, art studios, and overpriced crafts), residential (luxury lofts for millennials…ha), and government (Office of the Assistant to the Assistant Community Outreach Liaison Director).

      1. According this WGLT article: If State Farm’s Exit Is Downtown Wake-Up Call, Will The City Answer? http://wglt.org/news#stream/0 -It’s time for the city to step up to the plate and build the (goat yoga, art studios, and overpriced crafts), residential (luxury lofts for millennials…ha), and government (Office of the Assistant to the Assistant Community Outreach Liaison Director). Or is that just the crony capitalist system narrative that they are pushing to get everyone to think that spending taxpayer money in downtown Bloomington is a good idea?

      2. The old HS is being developed by a private entity (with government assistance) into a retirement home. At least that was the last proposal presented.

      1. Diane – What’s the latest on the Frump, er…Front, and Center Building? Wondered if the eminent domain talk was a trial balloon.

  3. Lett’s buy some MORE property downtown and tear down the buildings and make a BIG clearing, so the mother ship can come pick up these denizens running the place and take them back where they found them.. NOW I”d go downtown to WATCH that, and we’d PROBABLY make the news!
Course they’d PROBABLY pay the aliens “fuel” money! So that eats up the profit…

  4. Could we have a more clueless bunch running our city government? I don’t think so… these folks are in a special class all their own. They are the short bus version of city government.
