The Council is meeting at 5:00 only for an Executive Session (Secret Meeting):
I’m betting the collective bargaining contract won’t ban pension spiking. The City needs to lead with non-union employees first. They are too chicken to do it. The fleece continues.

The naming right for the Pepsi Ice Center expired in 2016. Tonight the City council will agree to pay VenuWorks a 5% commission for finding a new sponsor. Meanwhile, Pepsi has and still gets free advertising.

Outdoor alcohol sales will be approved for the WGLT summer concert June 9 and various dates for Castle Theater’s Rock the Block events. The council is finally allowing downtown to be used for it’s best purpose instead of trying to resurrect retail with your money.

A couple things:
#1: $40.50 per hour for a Saturday worker for Electronics Recycling is a lot of money. I wonder what specialized tasks that person has to justify a high hourly rate.
#2: There was text in there about a “Proclamation declaring April 21, 2018 ‘Comcast Cares Day’.” I’m sure that’s from the prior minutes to be approved, but I’m wondering what Comcast cares about. It certainly was not my customer service or pricing. Maybe others had success with them.
#3: I’m glad they are doing things that could generate more revenue with these outdoor concerts. If they want to draw more people downtown, making these events more desirable for patrons is one of the best ways to do it.
#4: End pension spiking! Easy way to reallocate $100,000’s a year for roads and other things.
