Comments to Facebook last night on the Keeping Families Together site revealed a lot. Sonny Garcia laid out his political beliefs. They have nothing to do with the Constitution. Excerpts are posted below, here’s what he gets horribly wrong:
- We aren’t a democracy, we are a republic.

- Sonny thinks he’s acting like Jesus Christ. Jesus attacked religious leaders, he also said render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s. Jesus never called on Rome to solve anybody’s problems. Sonny wants City Hall to kneel before his comrades just because his mob shows up.
- Social Justice is theft and coveting what other people have. Jesus wouldn’t approve Sonny.

Sonny and his comrades hide behind Jesus while conducting acts of hate, bullying, intimidation. If Jesus walked the earth in 2018 I could envision him walking into the churches that support Illinois Peoples Action and flipping over the tables because of their hypocrisy, and twisting of the gospels for their own worldly means.
They learn tactics not from the teaching of Jesus but from Saul Alinsky a man who learned his methods from Chicago mafia members. Alinsky goes on to dedicate his book “Rules for Radicals” to Lucifer and says in a Playboy Magazine interview that if given the choice between and Heaven and Hell he would choose Hell.

“National issues have no place in local politics.” –Mayor Renner at a City Council meeting.
This coalition is anti-police and anti-government. Their issue is with Immigration Reform which can only be changed by the the Federal Legislature. They need to take it to the Federal level. The City of Bloomington has no control over national policy. Lil’ Sonny needs to take a course on Civics. I believe to become an naturalized citizen, an immigrant has to pass a Civics test.

The radicals are probably closer than they think to enjoying a majority stake in government. The decent people of Bloomington – left, right, and center – are packing up and leaving. When the king gets too big for his britches, the villagers can do one of two things: storm the castle or flee the village. The latter is happening in Bloomington. With the departure of decent, honest folks, the radicals become more and more empowered with each gain. This is just the beginning. I feel so sad for Bloomington and those that can’t leave for whatever reason.

The US hasn’t kept their promises for centuries. Just ask the native American Indians. Not that it makes it ok cause it doesn’t. This agreement was one of the few credits that got done during the Obama administration, however now that you are discussing international politics, what say you about Israel that has never signed the IAEA agreement? Fact is known that they possess 150-200 nuclear warheads and absolutely refuse to have any inspections. That said, what credence did the agreement ever hold in the first place when the biggest player in the region with nuclear warheads, refused to sign? Singling out one president for being a liar merely shows your disdain for the sitting president, nothing else, and severely dilutes any credibility for your post.

There were never any immigration laws until the1880’s when our country enacted the Chinese Exclusionary Laws. These laws were based on race, abruptly cutting of all immigration from China. This led to progoms against the Chinese, lychings and discrimination against Chinese. This was also against the back drop of the lyching of blacks in the South. Are these the days you want to go back to? From reading the forum here, it seems that that is true.

Immigrants have been our country strength. We currently are having a low birth rates, so we actually need immigrants so we don’t become Japan which has a large older population that isn’t being filled with younger people.

What makes you say I want “something different”? Ellis Island opened in 1892 approximately that many people came through that port. Before that time there was no limit on people coming through multiple ports including New Oleans, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Detroit, Galveston and Savannah. All before 1892.
In 2015 approximately 3.4 million Central Americans resided in the United States representing 8 percent of the 43.3 US immigrants. 85 percent of Central Americans in the United States were from El Salvator, Guatemala and Honduras. This area continues to suffer high murder rates, which is driving ongoing migration. The Obama administration launched a media campaign in Central America highlighting the dangers of traveling to the United States.
Yet the underlying assumption that greater knowledge would deter Central Americans failed. This knowledge of the dangers including deportation didn’t work. Trump’s zero tolerance policy has failed and backfired greatly. Unless you want children as young as 2 being brought to court on their own to be deported without their parents, there is something wrong with this policy. This is a policy not a law, people who asking for asylum Constitional have to have due process. Coming over the boarder illegally is a misdemeanor, same as jaywalking. Most people are opposed to your president’s immigration policies. Hence the large protests against his policies (NOT LAW).

Those who are here illegally are Constitutionally entitled to due process, through the 14th Amendment. So either if they’re coming here illegally or asking for asylum, they have to go through immigration court NOT criminal courts that the Trump administration is trying to pull.
One last point NO administration separated children from their parents. The Trump administration is so incompetent that it has lost the names and identities of the children and parents who asked for asylum. This is an egregious ploy by the administration to be cruel is beyond belief. If you actually support this cruel policy, then you’re no Christian.

It’s been the practice for years release those who are asking for asylum and accused of illegal crossings in immigration courts to released with GPS ankle monitoring. Works with those on bond and parole in this country. That technology has been around for years. It was only when the Trump administration enacted its zero tolerance policies did separating families became a problem.
