Law360, East St. Louis, Ill. (September 4, 2018, 4:07 PM EDT) — State Farm on Tuesday agreed to pay $250 million to settle a suit alleging it secretly worked to help elect an Illinois high court justice in order to overturn a billion-dollar judgment against it.
The deal, which was preliminary by U.S. District Judge David Herndon from the bench, ends some 20 years of litigation on the same day trial was set to begin….

Was the judge herndon a relative of old Abe Lincoln’s associate?
And to think, they were probably planning to invest that $250 million in the revitalization of Bloomington-Normal. Hahaha! For SF, this is a plum deal. The plaintiffs were seeking a cool $8.5 billion. Will the BN lefty anti-1%ers be protesting this “evil corporation”?
One of the haters works there and is running for City Council. He is also a lawyer – wonder if he had anything to do with this?
1. It will be appealed and I doubt the full $250 million will be paid out.
2. SF, like other corporations, have insurance for this, so it won’t come out of operating funds.
They agreed to this amount
The sad part is that there are folks who have gotten fired from SF for far less infractions! Not to mention all the folks who just lost their jobs because SF has a spending problem.
