  1. Mathey.and Red Raccoon (his business where he benefits from this) must be proud. Oh yeah, he made that point at Council (minus the part of the conflict of interest). Remember Downtown is not his Ward. Wonder what roads in his ward are being repaired.

  2. Wow! High dollar corner for the businesses there….Looks like the black dirt is ready for some nice plants. I wonder if there is some money left for a me to get a bucket of hot tar for a couple of pot holes that I want to fix on the road near me?

  3. No wonder Bloomington and Normal need more taxes! Beautifying Downtown or Uppity Town are much more important and visible for the pat on the back, then the ordinary needed repairs of other streets. Main thoroughfares are pathetic and most streets are filled with pot holes and continue to be in disrepair while ego trips of leadership blooms.

  4. Give it a couple of winters as the snowplows will mess up the center curbs and they start to crumble. Plants and flowers will look nice until the weeds show up as the city does such a terrible job of maintenance. Mo money, mo money.

  5. Is this place wide enough for a maxi-bus ? Or will one take out a few tables and chairs in front of the tavern/diner ?

    1. transit buses will take those out in no time the way they take corners……….waste of time & money…..they are idiots

  6. Wonder where they purchased the black dirt. Was it flown in from New Jersey? Maybe it’ll show up on an Amazon purchase. Is that what Nikita does all day? Oh, I know. Maybe it’s local $10K an acre farm ground. Gotta keep the good ole Renner boy network alive ya know.

  7. I question if the raised beds are pedestrian friendly. The sidewalks become narrower and there is a tripping hazard.

  8. That one building in the photos. thee three story one, looks a bit shabby. At the least the front could use some TLC.
Come on building owner, they are playing the fiddle, you better start dancing to the music.
Unless, of course, you know somebody.

  9. Cant wait to read about the first 2.5 million dollar lawsuit that will happen when some drunk or high person trips over the raised beds.

  10. Remember we still have $600,000 worth of really fancy signs to install downtown this summer.

      1. Hard to say…. I know their hero AOC just discovered that food comes from dirt “like magic”… so perhaps they to are unaware of this complex horticultural reality?

  11. The road looks nice in front of Renner’s former campaign HQ, Rosie’s. The City continues to shovel more money down the rathole that is Downtown Bloomington to the neglect of the rest of the community. The will have little if any impact on the economics of Downtown or the city itself, it’s a gift to Tari’s cronies in the Downtown cabal. With a nice newly paved road and those famblous wayfinding signs, I guess all Downtown needs now is a reason for people to actually go there in the first place. Ha!

    1. As I remember, Mayor Little Man liked to use the city credit card in Rosie’s a lot before it was taken away from him. Now he can feel all upscale and cool when he strolls in for his next lunch…. we got planters, plants and nice signs to enhance his Rosie’s experience!
