Since common sense isn’t allowed on the Connect Transit Board, I can’t ask a simple question. Why not plan routes so people don’t have to transfer buses? I know one answer: No transfer and they don’t get counted twice as riding.

CONNECT TRANSIT TO MOVE FORWARD WITH DOWNTOWN BLOOMINGTON TRANSFER CENTER FEASIBILITY STUDY AND ALTERNATIVE SITE ANALYSIS
Normal, IL – Connect Transit has been given approval from the Illinois Department of Transportation to move forward and conduct the feasibility study and preliminary design work for a Downtown Transfer Center. The feasibility study will review candidate sites in Downtown Bloomington for the future building of a transfer center as well as alternative site analysis.
The current Connect Transit Downtown transfer point serves on average a total of 1,800 riders daily. This is the second busiest transfer point in Connect’s bus system. The current on-street location lacks proper shelter, restrooms and other amenities. The transfer center will greatly improve access for existing transit users and transit dependent customers by providing a safe and convenient place to access transit.
Public transportation facilities are critical to attracting talent to the community and are significant components in developing walkable, bikeable, welcoming communities for both younger and more senior populations. Connect Transit is vital to connecting riders to places of work, education, and to visit local businesses and community services.

Well at least it will give some of Matejka’s union boys a part time job… just like the massive money loser Coliseum. It proves Tari and his gaggle of socialists can’t learn from previous city disasters.
You highlighted the exact phrase I was going to use. So, they are seeking the sort of talent who has no car I take it, the sort who will gladly live downtown and open up a little govt. funded art gallery maybe, or perhaps some sort of little trinkets store loaded with “handmade items” they can sell for 10-30 bucks each that one can purchase in bulk from alibaba or similar for 27 bucks per 50? Oh geez, it just gets worse and worse and that little section itself is simply loaded with “their” buzzwords. These people THINK they are in a major metro area I swear, they believe BloNo to be just like NYC or Chicago or other similar large cities. maybe they are trying to find a way to make car use/parking as complicated and costly as it is in places like that – I know I know, don’t give them ideas.
They have forgotten why there is a bus service at all. The people that NEED the service have been forgotten.
And here is another lie in that statement full of BS… “Connect Transit has provided safe, reliable and affordable public transportation to the Bloomington-Normal community since 1972.” No they haven’t. It’s not affordable for those who are paying for it…the taxpayers. Connect Transit has provided NOTHING, except an operation bathed in red ink. Everything they do is subsidized, by the taxpayers.
I can’t help but notice my Council Member has remained silent publicly on the situation. At least her title is correct.

“They” are quite good at that, “forgetting” certain people in favor of others – they seem to either not understand the populations and areas that need it – or they do and simply don’t care.
We NEED ANOTHER “feasibility study” like UPTOWN needs another NEW building. When will this sheer stupidity STOP??
And a BIKEABLE UPTOWN. That REALLY makes me want to rush there!!! And just how many “folks” on bikes have a basket to carry ALL the stuff they are buying where ever they go??
