Rodney Davis – WJBC

I know most of you aren’t listening!  Just an FYI
By:  Diane Benjamin

I have never been a big Rodney Davis fan.  At times he does the right thing and at times he’s part of the swamp.  He does know a few things about mass shootings though since he was in one on a Virginia ball field.  The shooter was a Bernie supporter, Republicans never blamed Bernie.  Rodney’s passion is obvious when he talks about it.

This morning Davis was in studio with Scott Miller and Katherine Murphy.  Listen to the interview here – well worth your time.

On Wednesday a group called Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is holding a rally at the old courthouse in Bloomington.

They don’t understand

The shootings aren’t caused by guns.

If banning guns worked, Chicago wouldn’t have a mass shooting every weekend.

Listen to Rodney, I’m not going to type his comments for  you.  It’s 12 minutes, skip the first two.  One clue:  Arguing about anything concerning guns or ammunition means nothing will change.  We’ve seen that game over and over and over.

Rodney’s opponent proves she would be worse:

betsy

  1. The congressional shooter did not have a hate filled manifesto based on Bernie quotes

    The ElPaso shooter did.

I knew you just forgot to include that FACT.

    1. I doubt you read it in full since the Drudge Report was the only news outlet that I am aware of that actually published the entire document. If one is truthful, it wasn’t “hate filled” at all. It stated why he felt the way he felt about a variety of topics. In fact, he seemed more concerned about corporate America running the country than about race. He admitted he didn’t even have any concerns about Hispanics until reading the White Replacement document. He didn’t quote Trump at all, so quit lying. In fact he was just as concerned if not more so about a coming automated economy, costs of higher education and the distrust of governments in general and what he felt was is chance of not being able to realize his American Dream. None of this excuses murder but quit trying to convince people his actions were spurred on by nothing but race because they weren’t. Doesn’t excuse murder but at least be honest with what he wrote. According to people who knew him, he was bullied all the way through school. He’s a tragic figure that was a result of his life’s experiences. Instead of helping him, most of the people who knew him probably excaberated his problems which resulted in Saturday’s tragedy.

  2. Dear Betsy, when is enough, enough? I agree,. It for socialists enough is never enough.

When will we stop blaming the implement and start blaming the nihilistic, atheistic, and atomistic social environment created by your fellow travelers? The policies espoused by you have destroyed the basic family unit, community cohesion, and the moral fabric of the nation in exchange for luchre, power, and pride.

Enough is enough. This is the world you have made.

  3. Let’s FACE some facts! MOST of US on this blog are OLDER folks, and WE DID NOT HAVE GUNS IN OUR SCHOOLS! I REALLY believe the interview with a doctor who was on the LIBERAL WGLT station this am. and he SERIOUSLY believes that the problem is in the fact that video games in this county TRAINS the people who watch them to KILL things. I See a correlation here. When I was a child. We HAD access to guns, etc, but we DID NOT go out looking for “revenge” or to kill! Nowadays. it “seems” that video games have given our youth a RIGHT to kill without remorse! Which is WRONG in SO MANY WAYS! It IS the PARENTS, FAMILY, LOVED ONES < etc, responsibility to SEE that this sort of occurrence does NOT happen! Guns DO NOT KILL PEOPLE- IT IS PEOPLE WHO DECIDE TO KILL OTHERS! Let's get this RIGHT! PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE! And as SOON as this GREAT country FACES this fact that we DO have an ISSUE here, the quicker and BETTER off WE ALL WILL BE!
We ALL need to take RESPONSIBILITY for OUR children, and our actions. AND IF WE DO NOT! Then we are damned due to OUR own irresponsibility!

    1. Responsibility. That is the key word. For years, we have been teaching people to Avoid responsibility. Learning, achievement, and dealing with the realities of life should all trump ‘self-esteem’, but all too often schools’ priorities are reversed.
When you try to teach kids that they are the most important thing in the world and that nothing is their fault, it’s no surprise that some of them are unable to deal when reality comes crashing in and they lash out with violence or socialism.

  4. Closing mental institutions has aggravated the situation. These are mentally ill people who should have been institutionalized and receive help. Guns don’t kill people, people do. Where are the families that refuse to accept that their relative is a danger and report them. When Maxine Waters tells her constituents to go and attack Trump supporters she can take the blame along with the rest of the media whores like her inciting violence. When has the President ever asked conservatives to go and physically attack democrats? Can’t think of one instance.

  5. FOOD FOR THOUGHT! I heard a doctor on the LIBERAL WGLT talk about WHY these shootings are taking place THESE DAYS, and didn’t back when we were ALL KIDS! He BLAMES the video gaming industry by putting out games that instill “killing totals” on youngsters and MAKING them want to become serial killers. I NEVER watched video games , as a kid as we did not have them when I was a kid, but seems this MIGHT be a direction to LOOK INTO!
AND IF you look at MANY of the games now days, they are WAY too violent and graphic…seems to be a correlation!
    JUST A THOUGHT!

      1. True, millions play them, but I wonder about the influence of such video games on young minds that are INTENTIONALLY ALTERED with mood-altering drugs? Some kids genuinely need the psychotropic meds that are passed out like candy, but the vast majority DO NOT. In a culture where it is more expedient to medicate a child than actually parent, where “parents” instill an entitled “my wants and needs are the only ones that matter” attitude in children, and where there is an abject lack of any accountability or morality, is it any wonder that these evil things happen?

  6. Make America Great Again
    1) Jail crooked politicians.
    2) Respect the Constitution.
    3) Enforce the rule of law.
    4) Kick PC to the curb replace with the golden rule.
    5) Greatly reduce personal income taxes.
    6) Stop the empire building wars.
    7) Eliminate so called free trade agreements and bring our factories back.
    8) Good basic education, reading, writing, and arithmetic.
    9) Study and learn from history.
    10) Your gender is what you were born with.
    etc.

    1. How does “gender” have anything to do with right wing extremist? It doesn’t. “Make America great again” is the problem. Again extreme right wing and white supremacist ARE the problem who take “Make America Great Again” as a call to action. “73.3% of U.S. extremist-related murders in the past decade were committed by right-wing extremists, including white supremacists.”

“Kick PC to the curb”? So a president along with his followers can say anything hate filled words that pops into their heads? Trump did not hide his amusement when a supporter at a May rally in Panama City, Fla., called out “shoot them” in response to one of his diatribes about “these people” coming over the border illegally. Trump has brought racism into the mainstream. He has glorified intolerance, even made it sound like a form of patriotism.

Trump is as complicit in these horrible crimes as if he had helped load the ammunition, and the whole, rotten GOP ‘leadership’ is complicit in his crimes of incitement by their refusal to speak out against his hate-mongering.

“Make no mistake about it, words matter. And, Mr. Trump’s words are dangerous.

These words are more than a “dog-whistle.” When such violent dehumanizing words come from the President of the United States, they are a clarion call, and give cover, to white supremacists who consider people of color a sub-human “infestation” in America. They serve as a call to action from those people to keep America great by ridding it of such infestation. Violent words lead to violent actions.”

Right Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington
Very Rev. Randolph Marshall Hollerith, Dean of Washington National Cathedral
The Rev. Canon Kelly Brown Douglas

      1. Obama wasn’t blamed for any of the mass shootings – far more than Trump – during his administration. Police became targets under Obama, should we blame him? Comments like this accomplish nothing! Dog whistles are imaginary leftists propaganda, it must because because you use them.

  7. I see where Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Lightfoot blamed Trump “rhetoric” for both weekend shootings. That rich since there were close to or forty incidents of gun violence reported in Chiraq this past weekend. Guess both don’t know the Ohio shooter was a known supporter of Elizabeth Warren and Antifa. These people are nothing but political whores and out and out liars.

  8. The city of London banned guns and the murderers picked up knives and machetes! They banned knives and the murders still continue with both guns and knives. So explain to me how gun control will work here in US? Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in the country, yet lo and behold they have also one of the highest murder rates. Banning guns wont work until you get rid of the bad guys. We know it and the liberal mouthpieces ignore it. Get rid of the gangs first . I can guarantee the murder rate will drop.

  9. I Support A Rally For Gun Sense. At least one school shooting was ended because one of the students was also a hunter and recognized the bang bang click click of an empty magazine and took that opportunity to tackle the shooter. If more people had more gun sense, they would be better able to defend themselves and to avoid being shot. It might also allow those who feel so lost that lashing out seems their only option to instead use their interest in guns to gain some respect from peers or create a social circle. Gun safety education is a win-win-win.

  10. Diane, it’s time we do the right thing and ban violent video games causing these shootings like Grand Theft Auto, Fortnite, Katamari Damacy, and Call of Duty. Free Speech and First Amendment be damned! The Second Amendment takes precedence over everything. I own several ARMALITE- 15’s (hint hint libtards, AR doesn’t stand for Assault Rifle). They got to take away these XBOX Controllers before they take away my sweet firearms I need to survive against all the gang bangers running around pushing Crack.

Let’s get these Video Games banned now! Call your congress critter and demand action!!
