Saturday mornings are a big drop off time for recycling behind the Normal Walmart. There are two large bins for cardboard – both were 95% full this morning.
The one for containers was totally full, the No Bags sign is immaterial evidently.
The one for mixed paper had a little room so people were putting containers in the mixed paper. My containers are now in the garbage.
If there was a market for cardboard, containers, and mixed paper these bins would not be full. Getting free product isn’t enough of an incentive to empty the bins.
How much of what is dropped off goes in the landfill anyway?

You nailed it. Just something to allow the liberals to feel like they are “saving the planet”.
I imagine that they could get rid of 1/2 of the ISU staff if they eliminated all of the non-essential departments, like the office of sustainability. Lot’s of un-necessary feel good departments like that.
