The Champaign City Council held an emergency meeting this morning to respond to Corona virus. What did Champaign do when 60,000,000 Americans contracted the Swine Fly and 18,000 died? Anyone? Anything? This is an obvious abuse of power!
The ordinance passed 9-0, just so the City is prepared! Reports are the Mayor needed powers to protect all the foreign students.
As reported by the Edgar County Watchdogs:
Champaign to hold Emergency Meeting: Grant powers to ban sale of firearms, gasoline, liquor, take possession of private property –
The City proposes to grant extraordinary powers to the Mayor, which include (starting on page 8 of the below pdf):
- Violating parts of the Open Meetings Act
- Ban sale of firearms and ammunition
- Ban sale of any alcohol
- Closing of all bars, taverns, liquor stores, etc
- Ban sale or giving away of gasoline or other liquid flammable or combustible products in any container other than a gasoline tank permanently fixed to a motor vehicle
- Direct the shutoff of power, water, gas, etc
- Take possession of private property and obtain full title to same
- Prohibit or restrict ingress and egress to and from the City
One thing noticeably absent? The Mayor will not have the power to prohibit the sale of marijuana…

One of the “seven sisters” schools with a long history of teaching and promoting far left ideals. Most women that go their come from families that are far left and would like nothing better than for USA to be more socialist.
Sad state of affairs. At one time this once proud university in c-u would have responded to this abuse of power.
Don’t mention ANYTHING about HIGH EXPLOSIVES!! These are the kinds of rules that state militias enforced during mining strikes and such in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s! Only problem was that miners had pretty easy access to dynamite, and unfortunately for a few companies, KNEW how to use it! Needless to say, the results were rather devastating..
