The Pilgrims sailed to an unknown land because they wanted religious freedom, not the state mandated version.
The greatest army at the time – the British – weren’t defeated by a bunch of farmers without divine intervention.
The Declaration of Indepence, written by Thomas Jefferson, originally contained a line outlawing slavery. The King of England at the time would not allow it. 2 of the 13 colonies refused to sign it with that line in, of course they were in the south.
Obviously the Founders meant:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
We are not a country founded on slavery. We are a country founded on a covenant with our Creator. The founders laid a foundation for future citizens to govern themselves and perfect the union.
The United States will never be perfect, no country is. We are continually working to make it better. We The People are the government, government serves at OUR pleasure.
The strife in the country today is because we don’t know our history and we have broken the covenant this country had for divine Providence:
And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our Sacred Honor.
Can we pledge the same?
The Pilgrims arrived at Plymouth in 1620, 400 years ago. God blessed this country because of their covenant to be His people. Pledge today to renew the Covenant. Read the words of the Founders, what they created is amazing.
God Bless America and all of its people. July 4, 1776 is the day the country began, it is our job to keep perfecting it with the consent of the governed.
