Since Bloomington staff won’t just answer a simple question . . .

By: Diane Benjamin

It was pretty easy to determine the COUNTY was paying for the Bloomington Election Commission for this story: https://blnnews.com/2020/10/08/you-cant-make-this-stuff-up-bloomington-election-commission/

I emailed the Bloomington Finance Director just to verify and didn’t receive a response until yesterday:

That is 7 days after I wrote the story!

This is the document they sent, you have to know something about accounting to figure it out. Highlighted at the top is what the State gives BEC and what the County pays.

Obviously my original story is right. The COUNTY taxpayers are paying for the Bloomington Election Commission and County taxpayers don’t have a vote to abolish it unless they live in Bloomington.

Taxation without representation!

See the last line. That is the amount BEC was planning to return to the County. It remains to be seen whether that will happen, they may need the money to cover their ballot mistakes.

A question to abolish this fiasco needs to be on the April ballot. Who is in?
