Tari Renner won’t be doing a proclamation tonight about being thankful this Thursday, but he will be doing one declaring November 28th Small Business Saturday. I wonder if bars and restaurants qualify? What small businesses haven’t been put out of business yet Tari?
Some items on the Consent Agenda:
- Bloomington will authorize spending $371,820 on road salt. See PDF page 64, the price per ton is a lot less than it was last year. See PDF page 65. Downtown is prominently listed under Community Development impact. Do they get salt first?
- Aldi should be getting approval to build a new store on S Mercer.
3. See PDF page 95, more properties around downtown are being rezoned. A chart detailing acceptable uses for your property is on PDF page 106 and following.
These won’t be discussed unless somebody pulls them.
Regular Agenda:
PDF page 136: Because COVID ate into the city cash, the city wants another $4,282,628 in capital leases. They were planning on phasing out the use which started in 2011. This amounts to putting capital purchases on a credit card.
PDF page 144: Bloomington wants you to pay utility bills electronically. The program is expected to go Live in March 2021. It will save money because they won’t have to pay to process as many checks.

Small Business Day after what he has allowed to be done to the small busineeses in this town??? Renner’s hubris has no bounds. So glad his tenure as mayor is almost over.
I’m surprised Ald. Carillo has not put forth a proposal to eliminate Thanksgiving and Black Friday as paid off holidays because she thinks they promote hate. The same as Christmas and many other holidays. Although she probably realizes taking away paid days off would lose her the vote of city employees.

David Hales started it to buy what they could pay for. Gleason planned to end it, Covid ate into the cash pile, so still charging wants instead of saving again.
