When Straza was running in Ward 5 against socialist Lawler of course I would pick Straza.
But Straza decided to reach for the moon without having any experience in Bloomington government that I know of. I don’t remember him ever showing up at Public Comment either, so unless he can prove otherwise – I consider him too uniformed to be mayor. Did he only run for mayor because Tari didn’t? Did he approve of Tari and didn’t want to run against him?
Then there is his connection to Responsible Cities PAC, Chris Koos, and all the other local elites who think they know how to create utopia for us. Of course they use your money to do it. We’ve seen how disastrous those policies are! Coliseum, BCPA, Creativity Center, rotten roads, etc. etc. etc
Gunderson is a Jenn buddy which likely means she is a Social Justice – Defund the Police socialist. Bloomington has had enough of her type!
That leaves Mboka. There is a write-in candidate that doesn’t have a chance, so I won’t even consider that person.

I don’t trust Mboka. He attended conferences to learn how to run cities into the ground with socialist policies. In one of your articles regarding travel expenses for conferences, he was one of the attendees.

Interesting that the socialists keep tabs on us and consider us all to be “Alt Right”.
Questions about “alt right” because I don’t really know what it means. I’m pretty sure if asked they would define it as – “anyone that voted for Trump, regardless of color, who are all racists.”

So I didn’t know I was a white nationalist and anti-Semitist. I’m not. If I qualify because I voted for Trump, its good to know there are 70+ million (and counting) of us in America and probably a large majority here in the twin cities. Must be a scary place for the democrat socialists. Especially when they focus all their anger at an identity that isn’t real. They should get to know who we really are, they’ll feel better.

No offense, but you guys are all wasting your time attempting to plead your case. They don’t care. They all use the tried and true method of “anyone who doesn’t agree with me completely is a Nazi” for determining political affiliation. Just accept that they don’t know you and move on. When immature simpletons have their mind made up, you will never convince them of anything other than what they believe. First, use of the “alt-right” label or caricature doesn’t carry any weight and has lost any meaning. Basically, radical progressives apply this label to anything remotely right of center. It will resonate with the Jenns and Crabs of the community but do more harm than good to attract mainstream voters to their side. Second, a Google search revealed that by definition, the alt-right is a loosely organized group or belief system that embraces white nationalism. Interesting. How is that true Krystle, since the so-called “alt right” of the community (as you label DB and readers) is putting their support behind the black, immigrant candidate? Maybe you’re afraid that we don’t see color.
Actually believing people should be judged by the content of their character instead of the color of their skin – I forgot that point!
Well this is pretty rich. How many times has the “editor” and other commenters called those they simply disagree with them communist and socialist? It’s a regular occurrence on this forum. In fact the editor regularly calls Ms Carrillo a communist. She also labels other people who disagree with her as communists no matter the content of their “character”. Now there is outrage over someone labeling her and her supporters. Pot meet the kettle.

No it is not the “step” before communism. Any rudimentary world history or political science course will tell you the difference. Socialism emerged in response to the extreme economic and social changes caused by the Industrial Revolution, and particularly the struggles of workers. Many workers grew increasingly poor even as factory owners and other industrialists accrued massive wealth. The 1880’s to 1890’s saw massive disparities between the haves and the have nots.
In the first half of the 19th century, early socialist thinkers presented their own models for reorganizing society along the lines of cooperation and community. In most countries police and fire department are part of socialism along with many services you have come to depend on. The same with roads water purification and other commodities that we as a modern society have decided to have in common. Most modern democratic countries have some form of socialism.
Under communism, there is no such thing as private property. All property is communally owned, and each person receives a portion based on what they need. A strong central government—the state—controls all aspects of economic production, and provides citizens with their basic necessities, including food, housing, medical care and education.
By contrast, under socialism, individuals can still own property. But industrial production, or the chief means of generating wealth, is communally owned and managed by a democratically elected government. No one not even Ms. Carrillo believe that there shouldn’t be private property or laws that would outlaw private property.
Nice lesson, but history shows different outcomes. Both don’t work and have never worked. People make informed decisions, government doesn’t, so end of story. Sweet democrat socialism is still the same.
I don’t agree with your post Dawsey but that doesn’t mean I think you’re a communist. Stupid maybe but not a communist.
Ask anyone over the age of 65 if they like their Medicare. Also ask them if many of them would be able to live without Social Security. For many elderly and the disabled Social Security means they can somehow make it financially and not be homeless and hungry. What about the many farmers in your community who received bail outs when soybeans tariffs made China buy from elsewhere? Or the millions of unemployed who are collecting Unemployment because of the pandemic? All of those unemployed are able to still add to our economy because of the money they receive from the government. All of that is socialism. This country has many forms of socialism. It’s apparent that no one knows what the heck they’re talking about when it comes to socialism. I bet anything if we ended all the “socialist” programs in this country, just about everyone on this forum would be missing a service that they depend on.
So funny since those programs were FORCED on us by another democrat president who wanted to run our lives. Both programs are bankrupt. I hope you are young and will be paying high taxes for decades so we can get what we PAID for.
I would prefer not to have Medicare but am forced to take at least Part A by the government. The rest of my medical will be covered by a family plan so really “I don’t need Medicare” at all as long as my family plan is in force. My social security is actually “my money” taken out of my paycheck by the government because they didn’t trust other people to save money from their paycheck like I did. Either way, I would be doing fine without any socialism in my life if not forced to pay taxes by governments. I could buy water from a private source, find a place to dump my garbage, burn leaves instead of having them picked up, etc., etc. By the way, the Shakers were said to have brought socialism to our shores looking for “utopia” not some “workers of the world unite” movement although avowed communists were among the first labor union organizers. By the way, I didn’t have to look any of this stuff up.
Social security is a form of socialism. So are public roads, libraries, and even the police. Being anti-socialist is an anti-police stance. It is also against the military, fire fighters, teachers, medical personnel (especially travelling nurses), construction workers who get contracts to build things like roads, parks, schools, or hospitals. Basically, if you are against socialism don’t call the police when you suspect a crime occurring, don’t call the fire department when you house is on fire, and don’t send your children to school. Dawson was so on point in this thread.
Oh Krystle…your finally in the spotlight as you have been begging to be in for some time. Straza won’t get the support as he has no guts to say he supports police. In fact, he has no guts to speak out on anything. Gunderson is just a joke and will split the vote with Straza. End of story.
Straza is not right, center, nor does he abide by the Republican ideals. He is a Koos and Koos lackey Council campaign manager. Straza is a Koos puppet. His Responsibe Cities pack is filled with liberals and known RHINO’s like Barnett. I am amazed the republicans would back Straza. Does anyone know if the republicans really backed Straza or is that made up?
Sf’ , your post is spot on , only it is even more ugly below the surface . Grifters , consultants and various leaches are throwing small money into this PAC in hopes of 1000X ROI thru .. well if ya don’t know , ya don’t know. .anyway Straza is all hype , no substance – kinda like that MonoRail salesman in the Simpsons..anyone and any money from that PAC is not in the regular citizens best interest, to put it mildly.
I understand Connie Beard supports Straza from a trusted source.
