Enough of Josh Barnett!

By: Diane Benjamin

I’ve never gone to County Board member Josh Barnett’s Twitter page until today. He has me blocked!

Isn’t that special! Is it because this Republican hangs out with the Democrats on Twitter?

You might have forgotten Jeff Crabill is on the Bloomington City Council only because Barnett claimed he was leaving the County Board to run for Ward 8 and then changed his mind when it was too late to find another candidate:

Another guy attempted to run but he didn’t meet the residency requirements by a week or two. Did you do that on purpose Josh?

Don’t forget he got caught texting with a Democrat during an Executive Committee meeting: https://blnnews.com/2021/01/19/not-a-good-idea-to-text-at-meetings/

Barnett proved he’s a fake Republican when he teamed up with Responsible Cities PAC. Look at the names, dripping with hard core Democrats: https://blnnews.com/2020/09/02/the-document-you-must-see/

The Illinois Republicans will always be in the minority because of guys like Josh Barnett. His allegiance isn’t to Republican values. Democrats infiltrated the GOP decades ago to keep them in power. Barnett will be primaried if he decides to run again, Democrats will cross party lines to vote for him. Barnett isn’t about “crossing the aisle”, he’s an obstructionist.

Last night the County Rules Committee met to move forward with reapportionment. Barnett voted with the only other Democrat to keep 10 districts with two reps. The two were outvoted by Republicans 5-2 to move to 5 districts with 4 representatives. Right now nobody knows where this will lead, if the final County Board vote ends up 10-10 a commission will decide. Republicans will control the commission.

The meeting was less than 1/2 hour, you can hear the arguments for yourself:

  1. You have a Civil Rights Case…

“when a public official blocks critics from the page because of their viewpoints, she violates the Constitution. Indeed, the right to criticize the government is at the heart of the First Amendment. The court specifically recognized blocking as infringing on that right, noting that blocking someone in order to silence criticism of government work is itself evidence of government action.”
