Blame LaHood and Davis

Earmarks are back! Earmarks are out of control spending for petty projects locals should pay for themselves instead of asking the feds to print money for them. Democrats resurrected them when they took control of the House.

A Champaign columnist printed the facts.

Excerpts:

Among those representing central Illinois, Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Taylorville, has submitted $37.5 million in member-designated infrastructure project requests to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee of which he is a member. He also is seeking about $11 million in community-project funding requests through the House Appropriations Committee.

Locally, Davis’ list includes four projects in Champaign County:

  • $9.84 million to the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District for the purchase of 10 hybrid electric buses and six hydrogen fuel cell buses.

LaHood’s list includes a number of projects in the Bloomington-Normal area, including $3.5 million for four electric buses for the Bloomington-Normal transit system, two street projects and $700,000 for a family-medicine residency program at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

Champaign’s bus system loses more than Connect Transit. Both only exist because Rodney Davis and Darin Lahood throw money to them – your money.

Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Channahon, submitted about $81.8 million in funding requests to the two committees.

Read the story for more details. You will see why incumbents are almost impossible to get rid of. They buy votes with your money.

Last excerpt:

Freshman U.S. Rep. Mary Miller, R-Oakland, is the only member of Congress from Illinois who didn’t submit any requests. Miller’s district includes Charleston-Mattoon, Danville, Paris, Rantoul, Tuscola and areas south.

  1. The thing that upsets me most about these Republicans is they bring home money they know will be wasted on WANT projects instead of ensuring the money goes towards the NEEDS, like our roads and water. This makes them just as guilty of pissing away our tax dollars as Connect, and the people pushing the underpass and the soccer complex.

  2. Even though I vote for him (partly because a friend of mine knows him and says he’s a decent guy with good intentions, plus at least he’s not a dem-socialist type) the thing I have noticed about him is, he actually does next to NOTHING that is of any real value.

  3. Look at HOW both of these 2 got to congress in the first place : appointed by the local GOP. I would love to see a conservative – center , pro law enforcement and fiscally conservative person run and win on their own without the head start provided by daddy’s McClout™️
