NORMAL — The town of Normal on Tuesday received a Bronze Level Bicycle Friendly Community award from the League of American Bicyclists, joining more than 325 communities from across the country honored by the group.

The award recognizes Normal’s commitment to improving conditions for bicycling through investment in bicycling promotion, education programs, infrastructure and pro-bicycling policies.

“We are proud of the work we have done to make our community bicycle friendly with events such as the Bike Rodeo and Light the Night. We will continue to look at ways to improve our infrastructure with bike lanes and boulevards to enhance the community for all users,” Normal Mayor Chris Koos said in a statement.

Go to the bottom of the main page, you will this:

If we didn’t live in Illinois where corruption is everywhere, Chris Koos might be guilty of violating the:

How many bike trails have been built in Normal since 2014? His own website states his actions as mayor: “improving and fostering the ever growing bicycling community”.

How is that not indirectly benefiting Koos personally? He owns a bike shop! Illegal or unethical? You decide. Nobody else will, this is Illinois.

  1. Pam Reece is the towns ethics officer and the attorney works for her. When the very people who are supposed to be the ones keeping things are on the up and up are a part of the corruption then welcome to Normal, IL

  2. CONFLICT OF INTEREST!

    Unsure about ANY “big help from Vitesse Cycle owner” – I think Koos means that he has been busy spending lots of our tax dollars to promote bicycling in the Town of Normal.

  3. Reminds me of the Dukes of Hazard….Dukes of Normal….
    Chris Koos=-Boss Hogg
    Pam Reece=Sheriff Roscoe ; no way I would say Daisy
    Enous=Terry Renner
    Boar’s Nest=Bike Shop
    Lulabelle Hogg=Koos wife
    just as corrupt as in TV show
    We need Bo, Luke and Jessie to straighten them out.

  4. I was hit by a car ON MY BICYCLE a couple of months ago crossing College Ave ON THE CONSTITUTION TRAIL. Some girl with her head in her phone turning out of a parking lot onto College. NORMAL IS NOT A BIKE-FRIENDLY COMMUNITY by any stretch of the imagination.

  5. Your title is misleading. King Koos is not challenged by ethics. He follows the doctrine “The King can do no wrong.” He has appointed Pam Queen, so she is immune to pesky ethical worries as well.
