District 87: Lies or Rogue teacher?

By: Diane Benjamin

A reader sent some questions to District 87. The response was written by:

Dr. Diane Wolf

Assistant Superintendent

Curriculum and Instruction

District 87

Question:

What is the district’s position on the 1619 project and its use in the school’s curriculum?

Response:

We do not and never have used the 1619 project as part of our curriculum.

Question:

What is the district’s position on Critical Theory including race and sex education?

Answer:

Critical Race Theory is a theory used at universities and we have never discussed using this in D87.

Dr. Wolf:

Why did this child mention both Critical Race Theory and the 1619 Project in her public comment?

and this kid:

I could add others, but now the questions is:

Is Dr Wolf lying or are some teachers going rogue to indoctrinate kids?

This kid think it is important to teach REAL history, implying that what has been taught isn’t true:

This kid think it is important to teach REAL history, implying that what has been taught isn’t true:

Here is the real history that will never be taught in public schools:

Democrats were the party of slavery.

Democrats created the KKK.

Democrats were the segregationist.

Democrats created Jim Crow laws.

Democrat President Woodrow Wilson segregated the military.

Democrats are the same now as then. This is the short list!

The 1619 Project is nothing but fairytales many of the kids knew about. So, Dr. Wolf: Where did they learn it?

If District 87 finds a rogue teacher they need to publicly announce their firing. If not we must assume they are lying.

  1. It would seem we find our D87 and the City of Bloomington in need of a watchdog group such as the Edgar County group. Would even recommend possibly a Bloomington Group (relating to D87 and the City of Bloomington) and a McLean County Group. The two groups could work/collaborate in unison if a specific situation/item would be better served in unison. Several topics come to mind, but exclude them in this post for the sake of brevity.
    Watchdog Group Formation:
    1. Group Statement of Purpose
    2. Group By-Laws
    3. Group Business Plan (initially a First Year Plan and a Five Year Plan).
    4. Group Operational Procedures
    5. Group Strategies & Action
