BCPA still closed

The event calendar for the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts is mostly blank. They do have one event scheduled for October. Unfortunately it is a fund raiser for themselves:

Remember the grand plans for the Creativity Center? Details here: https://blnnews.com/2019/01/26/what-no-one-in-bloomington-talks-about/

The City even hired a fundraiser for the Friends of the BCPA. Her name was Cara Peterson. Below is her 2019 compensation:

She must have gotten married in 2020, because that compensation report shows:

Meanwhile “Friends” is a 501-3C organization that is required to file tax returns. The non-profit database I use has no information. This note is included however: https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/463670083

Either they aren’t filing tax returns or they have raised less than $50,000.

Meanwhile, taxpayers have paid their fundraiser close to $150,000.

  1. Another money pit soaking the taxpayers. They want to add embellishments so people will come. Don’t think so. Another waste of money to cater to a few.

  2. SELL IT!

And ALL of the other “pet project” properties that should not be owned and operated by the Tax Payers!!

  3. I can tell you first hand that some of the BCPA type crowd are “still leery about dining inside” and “can’t be sure if everyone in a group of people are vaccinated, so they have reservations about going into any indoor crowds where they don’t personally KNOW everyone is vaccinated”. I have heard some saying that they still think it is “way too soon” to be having any big events – and therein lies part of the problem. As to that fundraiser woman… OMG nice work if you can get it I guess, but I have a funny feeling the soul might be part of the deal. It’s good for a person to “know their worth” it’s quite another to outright fleece people and accept far more than you ARE worth or what the job is worth. Of course, it’s all basically one big greedy (and very conceited) family so there is that to consider.

      1. It makes me laugh too, but, they seem addicted to the fear, so let them be fearful, just leave other people alone who are not fearful.
