I have been working with a campaign to analyze how Mayor Koos, Kevin McCarthy, and Chemberly Cummings were reelected. It’s was pretty easy with lots of time and effort because the left knows one thing the right doesn’t:
Getting elected is the only thing that matters.
How you govern after an election is immaterial, winning makes it possible to act against the will of the people. We see that all the time and not just in local elections!
So how did they win?
Hundreds and hundreds of people who haven’t voted in either of the two previous local elections were targeted. Campaign workers went door-to-door with a phone app that allowed requesting a mail-in ballot right at their door.
MANY of those people did vote by mail, since they didn’t vote previously they were likely told who to vote for by the person at their door. That person probably followed up when they knew the mail-in ballot was delivered so the vote could be secured.
Lists of who requested mail-in ballots were available for candidates. I know in Bloomington some candidates got that list and then contacted the requestor. It appears that didn’t happen in Normal since the mail-in vote was the deciding factor.
I contacted a small percentage of these people in Normal to see if they really voted by mail. 100% of the ones I contacted did. I don’t see a reason to survey more.
Of course it didn’t hurt that mega donors funded an extensive numbers of mailers. People who normally don’t vote in local elections would have tossed those. They did respond to the personal contact at their door.
The right might not be capable of doing the same thing since they aren’t willing to step up and work hard to prevent it from happening again. Somehow they still believe in fair elections based on issues. They also refuse to acknowledge local elections are non-partisan in name only. When people vote who don’t know the issues because somebody came to their door, the right will lose every time.

We need to change the “rule” that candidates are in a nonpartisan election. I emailed a candidate that was sending and leaving door hangers in my ward and asked if they he was republican or democrat. He danced around the question saying he was for the people and that party didn’t matter. That needs to change. The county has party indication but not in B/N. We need to have candidates state their party. In local elections. No sure what it takes to make that change,, but it needs to happen.
If you can’t tell, ask me. It’s easy to tell who is who no mater what they claim.
I know for a fact the Koos campaign was getting a weekly report from the election office of who requested mail-in ballots. This was so they knew who to call and tell them who all to vote for…all Democrats!
Republicans taking the “moral high ground” and refusing to use mail-in ballots leads to Republicans losing because too many people will forget about election day or something will come up that prevents them from voting on election day. Ballot harvesting and voter fraud are illegal cheats that either side could do but are predominantly exploited by Democrats.
“Those who vote decide nothing. Those who count the vote decide everything.” Joseph Stalin. Note what just happened with the 2020 presidential election and pretend that it can’t happen here.
It didn’t in the county!
Whether local, state or nation, the percentage of a rural voting block as small as McLean County’s means little. If it did, Illinois’ eighty percent red colored voting map would translate into Illinois voting conservative year after year, The blue colors in the seven or eight including Cook means a he’ll of alot more. I agree with Stanky, with the way things are now fixing a local election in BN wouldn’t be that difficult. Also, walk into any precinct and 80 percent of the election judges are Democrats. Free yourselves, move away.
I’ve hesitated to mention this because I don’t know if it was a mistake or what.
After the presidential election I contacted Tim Mitchell of the Bloomington Election Commission about my vote. To be sure it was counted. He told me in an email that his record shows I voted early and all early votes were counted. I had not voted early. I voted on the day of the election. I let him know that and he responded that there was a mix up and that the record shows I did vote on the day of the election. I can not find that email.
I just wonder if my vote was counted twice. The first one being fake. But there’s no way to prove that now.

And Tim Mitchell left his job suddenly, so there’s that.
I believe that Kathy Michael is an honest person and trustworthy, professionally and as an individual. That said, probably most if not all of the electronic voting machines aren’t worth their weight in scrap.
The key for Koos and the elites is voter motivation. They strategically target voters who get something from local government under their leadership and control. (That seems to be a growing list, but I digress.) This cohort is all they need to win. Here’s how it works. Let’s say a local government raises taxes and gives the money to a group of people that make up 10% of the population. Conventional wisdom says that the 90% of people from whom the money is taken and redistributed to others are pissed and will vote against the politicians that made this possible on election day. It doesn’t work that way in Normal or anywhere else. It comes down to motivation. The level of motivation among the 10% of people that are getting something from government is exponentially higher than the 90% from whom the money was taken. Sad, but true.
Diane, you say nothing about how Scott Preston got reelected. Just Koos, McCarthy and Cummings. He’s got a campaign apparatus larger and more organized that employed the very same tactics. He endorsed Koos, and the establishment even though they didn’t endorse him. Wake up McLean County, this empty suit is no Republican! He’s part of the Dan Brady machine.
Preston may say he is a Republican but his voting record proves the opposite. He goes along to get along and will not fight for conservatives. His eye is on being appointed to Dan Brady’s seat. Preston’s goal is state pension and has no drive to fix any problems and defiantly never goes against a Democrat.

The left will lie, cheat and steal to win. Conservatives complain but won’t run for office and then don’t vote because there are “no good choices”. The local Republicans have allowed too many Democrat infiltrators to be elected (RINO’s). I don’t trust the party anymore. The last straw for me was when the GOP endorsed the Koos puppet Straza for Mayor.
Cheaters never win,,,unless they are demonrats.
With all due respect, to correct MPeabody’s comment:” Also, walk into any precinct and 80 percent of the election judges are Democrats.” That is incorrect and can be easily verified. Election jurisdictions are required to have a balance of Republican and Democratic judges. Judges are required to indicated their party affiliation before being trained and then assigned as Election Judges. It is always good however, to keep tabs on this process. This is the advantage of having poll watchers, which we here at the County Clerk’s office encourage; and have and maintain a reputation for this process. We also encourage those with concerns, to be an election judge. It’s a great way to learn the entire process, talk and work with fellow judges from all parties, and see all the behind the scenes work involved here on the local level, including observing and testing election equipment before election day. I should also add and clarify; I can’t speak for the City of Bloomington election processes, run by the Bloomington Election Commission. McLean County has two election jurisdictions; the Clerk’s office handles all elections/judges etc. except for the City of Bloomington. I can say that we worked well with the former BEC Election Director, Tim Mitchell, and appreciated his expertise and professionalism. Kathy Michael, McLean County Clerk.
