The below proves District 87 should concentrate on education instead of social justice. Schools prepare kids to be adults, if they fail the kids have a limited future.
There is limited data available for how the kids did academically last year because District 87 (and many others) decided not to participate in testing. A small amount of data is available here: https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/District.aspx?source=trends&Districtid=17064087025
Have you heard STEM education is vital? Not at District 87 evidently, the dark green line is the state percent:
This graph below is from 2018, failure to teach math has nothing to do with COVID. It shows the percentage who attend a Community College after graduation and have to be taught what high school failed to teach them. Keep in mind this is ONLY the kids who went on to Community College: https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/district.aspx?districtid=17064087025&source=trends&source2=postsecondaryremediation
Are you running for School Board in 2023? The social justice warriors elected now are not demanding education. You should!

A friend of mine worked at Heartland in the Math department. She showed me the math schedule. I was shocked at the number of remedial math classes they offered. I figured if you had been out of school a while you might need a refreshers course. But she told me it was mostly those who had just graduated high school.
I taught HS business over 20 years ago. I have thought about going back into teaching. But as a conservative, I don’t know if I could survive. I would be fired within a week.
And then lets throw in the new pedagogy of equity and race based CRT education that says math is a false white race construct. But not only that, correctness (even in math) should be evaluated on the basis of your race and lived experience.
I hope their lived experience will keep the bridges they/them/us designed from collapsing!
2+2 = 5 too! Common Core math
All answers are considered correct…lowest common denominator
I guess they see the wrong answers as that person’s truth….
I really think School Board is an area some of us need to focus on if we really want to make real changes in our community.
Both boards can get majority common sense in 2023 if good people run and start NOW!
Prediction : the next Bloomington School Board election is gonna be HEAVY on the things that are done to and for candidates ‘ in the arena’ , just sayin’ – better get your RhinoHyde w Armour skin on if you happen to be an incumbent because there is a REAL chance feelings are gonna get hurt and ego’s damaged.
