Why it should matter to Koos, but won’t

By: Diane Benjamin

Refer back to this story from yesterday: https://blnnews.com/2022/02/22/normal-council-wouldnt-be-normal-without-koos-being-a-jerk/

The specific part that applies to this story is Koos’ attack on Stan Nord for wanting to know why only one bid was received in response to a Water Department request for bids. Stan mentioned citizens can not know they are getting a good price if there is only one bidder.

Why this is important. See this story: https://blnnews.com/2020/12/14/guess-where-town-of-normal-employees-dont-live/

The Water Director is John Burkhart. You won’t find that on the Water Department webpage, you have to look at the total compensation page: https://normal.org/DocumentCenter/View/14857/Total-Compensation-Report—Town-of-Normal

This pic is in the story linked above:

Burkhart reportedly lives in Stanford. Does he care how much Normal pays for what he buys? Maybe he does but not nearly as much as someone who actually lives in Normal and pays their taxes.

How much cheaper is life in Stanford John?

One bid is okay? No Koos, it isn’t.

  1. Normal’s professional staff has responded “why should we do that,” ” we have money in the budget”

  2. Pam Reece’s management style does not include spending taxpayer dollars frugally. She used the binge buying model. If staff want it, buy it and don’t worry about the cost.

  3. Where he lives is irrelevant. You can be a dedicated, caring employee while living on the outskirts. Aren’t you living “proof” of someone who cares but doesn’t live in the Town? Aim higher.
