Think facts will matter?

By: Diane Benjamin

Notice a problem (or two)?

Problem 1

The Normal Election Commission (board) is now immaterial since they issued their ruling on August 30th against the 2200 citizens who signed petitions. The Circuit Court is now in charge of deciding whether the referendum is on the ballot or not.

Problem 2

Mark Peterson? Really? The former City Manager? What do you think chances of Peterson being non-partisan are? 5%? 0%?

Below is a map of where the 2200 verified petition signers live. Signers are located in almost every part of Normal. The Normal Election Commission (Chris Koos, Kevin McCarthy, Angie Hounker) told them they don’t matter. https://betternormal-il.com/why-district-normal%3F-1

I wonder if the League of Women Voter’s found the 1985 lawsuit filed against Springfield for violating the Voter’s Right’s Act for electing representative At-Large? https://newschannel20.com/news/local/30-years-later-springfield-commemorates-voting-rights-lawsuit

I’m not going to watch this circus. It appears you can only sign up for this event on their Facebook page. If you watch let me know what happens. https://www.facebook.com/events/378786057620904/?ref=newsfeed

  1. Expected to issue a ruling? It’s not their decision to make. It’s up to the judge.
Also, they’re limiting discussion to their members, so those who support this cannot speak.

  2. “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” – Declaration of Independence

Putting this specific question on the ballot allows the governed to give their consent for how they want to be governed. Would-be kings and tyrants despise this power that the US voter has over iron-fist rulers.

Peterson implemented policies to suppress the public from speaking at council meetings which the attorney general has since forced Normal to abandon. Peterson was one of those iron-fist rulers. I predict he will say districts are bad. Noone but his chosen elites are worthy of being in government.

  3. I really don’t understand why Normal Council doesn’t want this on the ballot. If it’s the peoples’s will it will be voted down. Why so scared? It’s almost as if they have things that need to be hidden.

  4. The entire purpose from their very origin of the League of Women Voters is propaganda directed at the.American people.
