Unit 5 referendum fails

By: Diane Benjamin

Voters rejected the large property tax increase Unit 5 wanted. They didn’t buy approving a tax increase would lower their property taxes when the bonds were paid off.

Unit 5 needs to fire the consultant, few people showed up for “Community Engagement” sessions. They did a lousy job explaining the facts while they are wasting money teaching staff to judge students on the color of their skin. See Dr. Shelvin. Keep in mind what she does has been hidden.

Of course maybe voters don’t care about their kids. They re-elected Pritzker who locked them out of schools. Next he’s going to mandate a COVID vaccination to attend school even though it is still marked “experimental” and has been proven to do nothing but cause heart problems in young people.

Get ready folks:

Unit 5 will announce draconian cuts and probably bring the referendum back in April. Maybe voters will actually show up for the local elections happening then. The School Board can get REAL changes if they do.

      1. According to several sources this morning only 57 percent of eligible voters voted in the midterms, so McLean County was higher than the national average. It does not take into account various types of fraud.

        1. During campaign season, Republicans get distracted by right vs. wrong and ethics. Democrats ignore these and focus on winning at any cost. Republicans need to realize that Democrats better understand what matters in politics, WINNING ELECTIONS!

  1. When they mandate the poison jabs for the kids I wonder if it will click in to any of these dummies when their teenagers start dropping dead and their little kids are sick ALL of the time. Eh, I doubt it, they’ll blame climate change or something equally ridiculous.

  2. Let’s see if Unit 5 has the guts to cut the top heavy, bloated, unnecessary, overpaid administration. Cut the leftist progressive marxist teachers. Cut Comprehensive Sex Education. Cut Critical Race Theory/Social Emotional Learning/Culturally Responsive Teaching/Diversity Equity Inclusion. Go back to Teaching Spelling, Reading, Writing, Penmanship, Arithmetic, Geography, UNTIL PROFICIENCY IS ATTAINED.

    1. FEDUP – That’s what Should happen, but only if we elect good candidates. Sadly these days ‘good candidates’ doesn’t just mean ‘good people’, but those who are willing to stand up for what is right, even in the face of bullying.
Stan Nord is a prime example.
I’m no Stan, but I’m still a good example. I was collecting petition signatures on election day and the election judge very angrily told me to stop. I knew I was within the law, so I kept going. He threatened to call the cops and I said please do and kept going. The cops showed up and told me to move. I said no (Actually more like ‘Okay, if you tell me what law I’m breaking’) and kept going. In the end the cops told him I was right. We need people who will stand up to authority when the authority is wrong.
