Board of Trustees announces university leadership changes
The Board of Trustees of Illinois State University has announced that President Terri Goss Kinzy has resigned as of February 14, 2023, and will vote to accept her resignation at the regularly scheduled Board of Trustees meeting at 2 p.m., Friday, February 17. The Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Kinzy as the University’s 20th president on May 14, 2021.
Pending Board approval, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Aondover Tarhule will assume the role of interim president, effective February 17. Dr. Tarhule’s appointment would be effective through June 30, 2024. Information regarding a presidential search will be provided by the Board of Trustees at a later date.
Dr. Kinzy shared, “It has been an honor to serve the Illinois State University community as its 20th President. I have enjoyed the opportunity to engage with Illinois State students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends and being a part of this thriving academic community. At this time, I intend to pursue other opportunities.”
Kathy Bohn, secretary of the Board of Trustees, said, “On behalf of the Board, we would like to thank Dr. Kinzy for her contributions during her time as President and wish her continued success in her next endeavor.”

Seriously ill?
Stupid statements that say nothing are why government at every level has lost the trust of those paying the bills (us!). She hasn’t even been President for two years. Let the rumors begin, the ISU Board of Trustees deserves every one of them.
Quitting with no notice isn’t “other opportunities”.
This is how they facilitated his move into this position. Ask her to resign. He’s the interim replacement. And will ultimately remain there. Their playbook is predictable.
He won’t remain there past his interim role. Trust me.
Got rid of a couple BOT members, too.
@BNINDY was it a personality clash with Kinzy or a vision clash between her and the university (either she wasn’t matching them or they weren’t matching her)?
I think it’s personality…she was not a pleasant person. It wasn’t a vision issue, the Engineering College was pushed through. My interactions with her, which were very limited, didn’t leave a good impression with me…at all.
But, the BOT is already saying it’s a “personnel issue,” so we’ll likely never know.

She’s too white and not woke enough. It’s not enough that she was the first woman president for ISU. That means nothing to the crowd running ISU right now. If she would have been the first transgender woman president, at ISU she’d still have a job. From what I saw of her, it’s pretty clear she’s too white and not woke enough.
Could there be a connection between this resignation and the recent national attention ISU
received over the student refusing to room with a woke occupant?
