Budget comedy

By:  Diane Benjamin On March 31st I gave you the budget history since Tari was elected Mayor:  https://blnnews.com/2016/03/31/in-honor-of-taris-re-election-bid/ There was very little discussion last night before the budget passed as proposed – 6- YES to 2- NO. David Sage was first – he’s very concerned but voted YES anyway.  Keep listening through Jim Fruin’s comments.  […]

One Voice DC trip pics

By:  Diane Benjamin The One Voice trip has a lot of local people in Washington DC this week begging for money. Here’s a pic of the group with Mark Kirk: Then listening to Dick Durbin: The next one is the most interesting! Who is Julie Hile? See this story: http://blnnews.com/2012/09/13/your-personal-property-rights-hile-group-and-the-town-of-normal/ Hile was a speaker at […]

More lawsuit emails

By:  Diane Benjamin I filed the Freedom of Information lawsuit because the City denied 3 requests within about 2 weeks.  Obviously they were hiding something, the biggest being Tari again calling people he doesn’t agree with “off their meds”.  http://blnnews.com/2014/10/20/why-is-tari-allowed-to-denigrated-the-mentally-ill/ I received some others I didn’t expect, like Scott Black saying nobody important reads this […]

I had hope for Steve Vogel

by:  Diane Benjamin Saturday Steve Vogel made another attempt at an editorial in what passes for a local paper.  I had high hopes, he almost seem to get it, but alas reality set in.  Vogel failed again to disclose his daughter ran the Mayor’s campaign TWICE.  Why is he allowed to write about the City? […]

Fly on the Wall: What if?

From Fruin’s bio on the City website:  http://www.cityblm.org/index.aspx?page=59 Jim has been very involved in the community, serving in several leadership positions with Illinois State University, Holy Trinity Church and Schools, Central Catholic High School, the McLean County Economic Development Council, the Bloomington/Normal Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Community Health Care Clinic, and currently as a […]

From the city code – Jim Fruin

By:  Diane Benjamin Below is the video of Alderman Jim Fruin’s 7 1/2 minute speech Monday night in support of the Brady/McGraw Park/Central Catholic deal. At the beginning Fruin lists family members etc that have graduated from Central Catholic.  He then makes the comment he “bleeds Central Catholic” At the end, around 7:20, Fruin says […]

Losing what made America exceptional

by:  Diane Benjamin A Rasmussen Poll from May 7th showed 27% of likely voters think the country is headed in the right direction.  65% now think we are headed in the wrong direction.  Evidently the other 8% are uniformed. The United States is 12th in the world on the 2014 list of Economic Freedom.  Economic […]

Fazzini has activated his power grab

by:  Diane Benjamin Petitions were filed today to put a referendum on the March PRIMARY ballot to concentrate the power in Bloomington in the hands a of a few elitist.  Fazzini wants the unions and the wealthy to be able to buy seats so any dissent is abolished and average citizens won’t be able to […]

Fazzini, Fruin, Black, and Renner being investigated by Attorney General

by:  Diane Benjamin Contrary to the belief of Rob Fazzini, he can not under the law declare himself a private citizen,  then work with 2 other Council members and include the Mayor’s email address on correspondence without violating the Open Meetings Act.  The Attorney General is now investigating their attempt to change the Bloomington City […]

A walk down Fruin memory lane

by:  Diane Benjamin Back in May of 2011, Alderman Jim Fruin decided the Council needed a code of conduct.  Only these members signed it: Bernie Anderson Ward 1 Mboka Mwilambwe Ward 3 Jennifer McDade Ward 5 Karen Schmidt Ward 6 Rob Fazzini Ward 8 Jim Fruin Ward 9 Stephen Stockton Mayor Anderson and Stockton are […]

Tell Fazzini, Fruin, and Black to stop the power grab

by:  Diane Benjamin I noticed that Rob Fazzini is no longer calling his takeover of the Bloomington City Council “Transparent Government”.  Nice try though, typical left tactic, kind of like The Affordable Care Act which Democrats knew wasn’t close to affordable for most citizens.  Anybody had their insurance reduced $2500 yet? 2 issues I would […]

Bloomington is getting Obama’d

by:  Diane Benjamin I hear Rob Fazzini already has people going door-to-door getting petitions signed to steal the City Council.  He wants a modified Ward system where some members are elected at large, the remaining Wards would be huge.  The effect is to take away your alderman, the one person who represents your section of […]

Private Citizen Rob Fazzini

by:  Diane Benjamin Is something in the water in Bloomington? Elected Bloomington Alderman Rob Fazzini thinks he can be an alderman part of the time – when he wants to be – and then be a private citizen when he wants to push his ideology.  Lately he’s been telling people his outside activities are as […]
