The Town of Normal City Council will discuss tonight adopting another prong in the International Building Code. I spoke to a local builder this morning, he has no clue what they are talking about. That’s the point – add to the cost of housing for little or no benefit. The goal of Agenda 21 is to push people into high rises and abolish private homes. Make them too expensive and eventually that goal will be achieved.
Where did International Building Codes come from? What are their goals?
The International Code Council is a member-focused association dedicated to helping the building safety community and construction industry provide safe, sustainable and affordable construction through the development of codes and standards used in the design, build and compliance process. Most U.S. communities and many global markets choose the International Codes.

Sustainable! Where have we heard that word before? What gives them the right, and the Town of Normal, to determine what is and what isn’t sustainable? Americans innovate, not comply.
The wording of what Normal is going to discuss is so vague it is impossible to know what they want now, other than to add to the cost of a house. The ICC code demanding sprinklers in every new house didn’t fly, so this is option 2. Should the United Nations control how your house is built? Yes, United Nations.
From tonight’s packet:
The Building Board discussed this topic extensively at its November 20, 2012 meeting. They ultimately
voted in support of this new code provision, citing the IRC alternatives to avoid the requirement by using a
sprinkler system or using dimension lumber. The board also noted the National Association of
Homebuilders supported this code provision at the national code hearings as an alternative to the home
sprinkler provision. There was no testimony offered by the BNHBA at the board meeting.
The Fire Department supports this requirement; however, they also indicated it would not dramatically alter
their approach to fighting a fire where they suspect lightweight framing has been used.
In other words – say YES or we mandate sprinklers!
If you live in Normal, contact the council now. In April replace them.
