Crying for my country,

The people don’t seem to care.

Freedom, Liberty, and Rights once ruled,

But now to hard to bear.

Politicians want more power,

The hell with laws and such,

Lobbyist must give money

So their accounts overflow with much.

America’s best days long gone now

Our kids will never know

The joys of government off our backs

Allowing them to grow.

The schools no longer teach it

Real history no longer taught.

Government grows bigger and bigger.

Socialism it has caught.

They got what they wanted

People too self absorbed to know.

They had all the power

but then they let it go.

——-

It was great while it lasted

That shining city on the hill.

But our light has been extinguished

And our kids got the bill.
