GOP candidates for Illinois governor display different styles in pulling in cash
SPRINGFIELD, Illinois — The four Republican candidates for Illinois governor have different styles of pulling in campaign cash.
Venture capitalist Bruce Rauner (ROW’-ner) of Winnetka brought in $916,000 during the three-month period ending June 30, with many contributions from top businessmen around the country.
State treasurer Dan Rutherford (ROOTH’-ur-furd) of Chenoa (sheh-NOH’-uh) —who developed a wide base of donors while serving as Mitt Romney’s Illinois campaign chairman — raised $433,000.
Republican state Sens. Bill Brady of Bloomington and Kirk Dillard of Hinsdale brought in $61,000 and $293,000, respectively.
Dillard, a longtime state senator from DuPage County, had donations from a number of suburban Chicago businesses.
Brady, a real estate developer and co-owner of a central Illinois home building company, received a number of contributions from central Illinois businesses and political action committees.
