Oberweis for Senate. What a joke. Arrogance, foolishness, it doesn’t matter. A rich man running off to Florida during the last week of a campaign? Dem. Sen. Dick “Bullhead” Durbin will eat him alive. If it’s the ice cream man vs. Durbin, it’s no contest.
Oberweis campaign mum on return as Truax aide hit by falling ice

U.S. Senate candidate Jim Oberweis’ campaign had no comment today on when he’ll return from Florida in advance of Tuesday’s Republican primary.
Back in snowy Chicago, rival Doug Truax kept up his criticism of Oberweis’ trip and paid a visit to a Chicago hospital where his spokesman was treated after being hit on the head with falling ice.
The spokesman, Dan Curry, was walking from a downtown train station to the offices of WLS 890 AM when a piece of ice fell from a building and struck him in the head about 7:45 a.m. near Washington and Wells streets, Truax said. A Fire Department spokesman confirmed someone was taken via ambulance to Northwestern Memorial Hospital from that location about 7:48 a.m.

It’s clear that Oberweis views himself as the sacrifical lamb to go up against Durbin in November. At least he has plenty of experience loosing elections. Republican voters have nothing to loose with Doug Truax. It may be a long shot, but at least we can save ourselves from the embarrassment of Jim Oberweis and who knows maybe end up with a Republican senator from Illinois. Durbin’s more vulnerable than you think.
