Your vote for President is becoming worthless

by:  Diane Benjamin

Ever heard somebody say they don’t vote because it doesn’t matter?  We used to think they were being ridiculous and misinformed.  Maybe they aren’t so wrong.

10 states and the District of Columbia have now passed a National Popular Vote bill.  These states comprise 61% of the electoral college vote.  The President is elected by the electoral college, not the actual vote.  However, members of the electoral college normally represent the vote results in each state.  So, if a Republican wins in Tennessee, the Tennessee electoral votes will be for the Republican.

Progressives have never liked this plan.  They believe the popular vote should elect the President.  This gives large states with big populations, like California and New York, more say in who becomes President.  That’s why the electoral college was created.  We are a representative Republic, not a Democracy.  To achieve their goals, progressives decided that states could agree that no matter how the votes goes in their individual states, all electors will vote for whoever wins the popular vote.

Say New Jersey has more votes for the Republican candidate than the Democrat.  Under this agreement, if the Democrat gets more votes in the entire country than the Republican, New Jersey’s electoral college votes will be for the Democrat.  It won’t matter what the citizens of New Jersey say, their votes won’t matter.

The states that have passed this so far are:  California, New York, Hawaii, Illinois, Washington, DC, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

It remains to be seen if this plan is unconstitutional.  With judges now making laws instead upholding existing laws there is no guarantee the Constitution still matters.  The people behind this effort believe the Constitution allows the states to choose electors any way they want.  They think this inter-state agreement qualifies as such.

Since people are leaving states like Illinois and California, their number of electors could be reduced in 2020 – the next census.  This might be the only way to make sure our vote still matters.

  1. I was raised to exercise my right to vote as an American. My dad use to tell us that if you don’t vote then you have no right to complain, but I have now come to the conclusion that our Presidents are more selected then they are elected. This Obama is the very worst President that true Americans have ever had to endure. Obama and his left-wing Progressives are without a doubt at war with America! If you do not believe that, then look up the Communist Manifesto and compare its ten goals with the scandals and efforts that surround this President and his cult followers. Our public schools are in “their” hands.
Our military is being reduced and demoralized, with patriots being driven out while those who support Obama’s regime are put into positions of authority. Our free market system is being destroyed. There are more people working for the government now than the private sector. There are more people getting welfare and food stamps than ever before in our nation’s history. Our President and his entire administration lies to our faces on a regular basis and it’s getting worse with every press conference that he has. His government is going after God (Christianity) and our guns while arming our terrorist enemies. They’re trying to destroy everything that has made America great, especially our Constitution that gives US as Americans, Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
I find it shocking just how many people are so complacent and unconcerned about this treason that is set before us today. Aldous Huxley wrote “Brave New World” back in 1931 and it was published in 1932, it has proven to be quite prophetic in it’s predictions of the future as Huxley stated, “pharmacological method of making people love their servitude” and “They will be distracted from any desire to rebel by propaganda or brainwashing, or brainwashing enhanced by pharmacological methods. And this seems to be the final revolution.” These pharmacological methods Huxley spoke of does not mean just pharmacological agents alone, but today we can expand the pharmacological method and use of terrorism that Huxley spoke of, to the stealthy psychological warfare waged against our public psyche by the indoctrination of the Lame-stream government controlled media!

    1. You strike me as the type of person who has never read anything he disagreed with. And that’s why it’s hard to take you seriously.

      1. Well madboy, it’s hard for me to understand what you mean by some of your statements but there is a lot of people even in Chicago’s black community who are fed up with this con-job fraud and his lack of leadership!
